A 20-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday for a felony warrant alleging grand theft auto, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office report states.

Jose Gallegos was taken into custody at 2:23 a.m. According to the arrest report, a traffic stop made by a deputy at around 2:11 a.m. on a white Ford SUV occupied by three people.

A deputy asked Gallegos, who was in the driver’s seat, for his identification. The man told the officer he didn’t have a license. The officer asked him for his information and he provided his name and date of birth. The deputy contacted dispatch to run the man’s name.

It was determined by officers investigating a battery earlier at a gas station on Lompa Lane and Highway 50 East that Gallegos and the other two occupants in the vehicle that had been stopped were witnesses to the battery.

Dispatch provided information regarding Gallegos, which returned as him having a felony warrant for theft of a motor vehicle. He was arrested for the warrant. Bail: $5,000.

In other arrests:
— A 68-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of misdemeanor trespassing and two counts of misdemeanor criminal contempt.

According to the booking report, deputies were sent to the 100 block of East Long Street for a subject trespassing at a business. The officer made contact with an employee who stated the man was trespassed from the property and not allowed back.

The man went into the business and was told he needed to leave and he did not. The employee was able to point him out to the officer. The officer made contact with the man and told him he was not allowed to be there and the business wanted him arrested for trespassing, the report states.

A deputy asked dispatch if the man was on alternative sentencing. Dispatch stated he was, for trespassing at the business. Alternative Sentencing was contacted and they placed two holds on the man for contempt of court. The man was taken into custody without incident. Bail: $1,242.

— A 61-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and open container, a sheriff’s booking report states.

According to the arrest report, deputes responded to the area of Fifth Street and Fairview for a report of a possible DUI driver. The reporting party was a Carson City Park Ranger. The RP advised he spoke with the occupants of the vehicle and they appeared highly intoxicated and had slurred speech.

The driver left the area in an older model green pickup, westbound on Fifth Street. A deputy was able to catch up to the vehicle as it pulled into a motel in the 900 block of South Carson Street.

The officer made contact with the driver. There was a female passenger who appeared highly intoxicated. The officer could smell an overwhelming odor of alcoholic coming from the vehicle and the driver had red, watery eyes and slurred speech, the report states. The officer asked the driver to exit his vehicle.

The man was asked if he would submit to standardized field sobriety tests and he agreed. He showed signs of impairment on the tests and had a preliminary breath test of .187. An open container of vodka was located in the driver’s area of the vehicle. The man was arrested. Bail: $1,329.
