By Monica Weaver, CHS Counselor — This weeks’ Senior Spotlight is recognizing Konnor Crisp, a senior in the Jumpstart program. He is an exceptional student-athlete, excelling in both academics and sports.

With a 4.4 GPA, Konnor has demonstrated his commitment to excellence throughout his high school years. As a three-sport athlete, he has competed in soccer, wrestling and swimming, balancing the rigorous demands of athletics with his academic responsibilities.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Konnor has been recognized as a three-time Academic Letter recipient, further showcasing his dedication to his studies and overall personal growth.

Beyond his academic and athletic pursuits, Konnor has developed a passion for American Sign Language (ASL). Fluent in ASL, he has dedicated his time to interpreting for deaf and hard-of-hearing students within his school community.

Konnor believes that ASL is not only a vital tool for communication but also an invaluable bridge that helps foster inclusivity and connection.

His work has made a significant impact, helping deaf and hard-of-hearing students feel more engaged and supported in their educational environment. Additionally, Konnor is set to start refereeing for wrestling, bringing his deep understanding of the sport to a new role that will help support the wrestling community.

Looking ahead, Konnor plans to attend the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) in the fall, where he intends to pursue a degree in engineering.

Along with his academic and athletic success, Konnor remains deeply committed to giving back to his community, particularly through his volunteer work with ASL interpretation and his love for wrestling. His future aspirations include continuing to volunteer and interpret, ensuring that he remains an advocate for inclusivity for all.
