The next Carson City School Board meeting will take place Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Bob Crowell Board Room of the Community Center located at 851 E. William St.

On the agenda:

— As the first meeting of trustees for 2025, the board will take on a number of annual items, including appointing trustees to serve on various committees, schools and associations for the year, the annual adoption of the bylaws, board elections and more.

— Trustees will also discuss and possibly approve a monetary incentive for staff who provide early notification of their intent to either resign or retire at the end of the 2024-2025 school year, with a fiscal impact not to exceed $40,000 total. This allows the district additional time to seek replacements for those positions.

— Sheriff Ken Furlong and Sgt. Taylor Mieras will provide an informational update on the School Resource Officers to trustees.

— A presentation will be given regarding the fiscal year 2024 annual independent audit and report on financial statements, as is required by state law.

— Board reports will be provided regarding Carson High School activities, Pioneer Academy activities, a Nevada Association of School Boards update, and general board announcements.
