These photos of the Carson River were taken Monday afternoon along Golden Eagle Lane east of the Northern Nevada Correctional Center off Snyder Avenue.

As of 9:03 a.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has reported that the Carson River near Carson City has now crested above its flood stage of 10 feet, reaching 11.04 feet, which qualifies as a major flooding event.

Though the river hadn’t officially reached flood level Monday, its swollen waters were clearly flooding fields and lowlands along this stretch above the Mexican Dam.

A flood advisory from the NWS remains for the Carson City area with the river now cresting above flood stage. River levels are expected to recede back to below flood stage between Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
