The Carson River reached flood stage overnight in Carson City, swelling to its flood crest of 10.

By 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, the river was upgraded to a major flood event, cresting over 11 feet.

Morgan Mill Road in East Carson City remains closed to traffic as flood waters have crossed the road there.

Nearby Empire Ranch Golf Course is also mostly submerged by the river’s flood waters Tuesday.

Banks flanking both sides of the river in East Carson City are flooded out as the river’s reach has spread well beyond its normal cresting.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno, the flood waters should begin to recede overnight into Wednesday, falling back below flood stage by noon tomorrow.
