On Thursday just after 5 p.m., a 25-year-old woman was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a N. Carson Street coffee shop on report of a possible missing subject. The woman was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, grey pants and a purple backpack.

The deputy wrote that on arrival he observed the woman walking in the coffee shop’s drive-thru, and the deputy exited their vehicle and asked to speak with her.

She said “no,” and then began running through a dirt field toward N. Carson Street. The deputy got back into their car and followed, observing the woman cross N. Carson Street without using a crosswalk.

The deputy continued trying to follow the woman with their car, but the woman crossed the street again. The deputy pulled into a parking lot, and a witness told the deputy they’d seen the woman heading north.

The deputy then located the woman again, exited their car and told the woman to stop. She again said “no,” and began running.

The deputy pursued her on foot before they “grabbed hold of one of her arms” and placed her in handcuffs.

The woman was transported to the Carson City Jail for obstructing/resisting a public officer and crossing without a crosswalk.

Editor’s note: There was no further updates on whether or not the woman was missing within the report. A search of her name did not return any available missing persons reports.

Domestic battery

A 67-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1700 block of N. Carson St. for domestic battery first after allegedly pushing his wife and hitting her in the head with a pipe.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a motel on report of a domestic battery. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke to the victim who said she’d been arguing with her husband when she decided to leave and attempted to walk out.

While exiting the door, she said her husband pushed her, causing her to fall to the ground and hit the left side of her head. She said she stayed on the ground as her husband threw items at her from her bag, but was able to get up and walk to another room.

She became uncooperative with deputies and did not want to show her injuries, and refused to write a statement.

Deputies spoke to two witnesses. The first said they say the husband push the wife, who then hit her head on the post outside their room. They said she fell to the ground on her back while the husband threw items at her from her bag.

They said they also saw the husband kick the wife several times on her rib while she was on the ground. They said they did not want to get involved, but saw a man approach and stop the husband from continuing to hit his wife. They said the man then helped the wife stand up and walked her away from the husband.

Deputies spoke with the man who said he saw the husband standing over the wife, and smash a pipe on her head and throw items at her. He said he helped the wife stand up, and the husband began to follow. He said he helped the wife enter the room deputies found her in, and then he left. He told deputies there should be shattered glass by the couple’s front door and inside their unit.

Deputies then spoke with the husband, who was intoxicated and had slurred speech. He denied hitting his wife and said “he would never hit her.” Deputies told him there were two witnesses, but he still denied it. Deputies noted there was shattered glass on the front door and inside the residence. The husband stopped answering questions and started saying “he would be going to jail” according to the deputy’s report.

Deputies took the husband into custody and conducted a preliminary breath test, which resulted in a BAC of .157.

The apartment property manager said she could provide footage of the incident, which will be reviewed at a later time, according to the deputy.
