Gusty winds and low humidity ahead has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag Warning from noon Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday for northern and western Nevada, including the Reno, Carson City, Carson Valley and Lyon County region, as well as the Lake Tahoe Basin and the eastern Sierra.

After a night washed out with a deep sepia haze resulting from the Creek Fire burning in the southern Sierra, the dense smoke that made its way into northern and western Nevada Saturday night that caused degraded air quality throughout the region now appears to be lifting, according to the National Weather Service.

On Saturday, August 29th, at approximately 5:24 p.m., immediately following a Black Lives Matters demonstration in Carson City at the Nevada State Legislature Complex, Officers from the Legislative Police and Carson Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting that was later characterized as an accidental discharge of a weapon.

Legislative Officers immediately seized an AK-47 Assault Rifle and detained the suspect, a 22 year old Sparks man.There were no injuries reported and the suspect was described as cooperative at the scene.

UPDATE 2:23PM: After 8 a.m. Thursday morning, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was notified of a patient at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center Emergency Room with a gunshot to the hand.

At arrival, deputies were informed by the victim that three unknown persons forced their way into his home at the 1500 block of Stanford Drive and shot him. The unknown assailants fled immediately, and the victim transported himself to the hospital, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong in a news release.
