Climate change: Is it real? Yes! Is there something that you can do? Yes! A few years ago I became more aware and concerned about our environment. My concern was elevated based upon what I was reading, hearing and witnessing.

The Memorial Day Flowers Foundation is hosting a Memorial Day Service today, noon to 2 p.m. at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City.

Among the order of service was a noon Raising of the Colors. The service will feature a presentation of the Colors by the Carson City Division of US Naval Sea Cadets, the National Anthem, Invocation. At around 1 p.m. there will be the introduction of speakers, U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, Sen. Jacky Rosen and U.S. Congressman Mark Amodei followed by A Memorial Day Tribute by the High Desert Post 56 All Veteran Honor Guard, closing remarks and a Benediction.

CARSON CITY — Nevada Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto toured the Carson Tahoe Health Mallory Behavioral Crisis Center this past Saturday, March 16.

“The senator sought us out because she was eager to know more about our mental health approaches,” says Christina Sapien, Behavioral Health Services Director. “Essentially, we have a facility for people in mental health and substance use crisis, which is a really innovative model. The Senator wanted to better understand how we’re leading the way in mental health and what our challenges are going forward.”
