All aboard the Halloween Fairy Tale Express! The Carson City Railroad Association, in partnership with Wild Horse Productions, are bringing back the Halloween train ride at Mills Park in Carson City for Nevada Day weekend!

A one night only opportunity has arrived. Spend Halloween night for a really special Ghost Walk at the historic, and dare we say spooky, Nevada State Prison in Carson City.

Carson City’s spooky and intriguing history is explored and theatrically re-lived at the 29th annual all-day Carson City Ghost Walk happening Saturday, Oct. 23.

The Carson City Ghost Walk is a delightfully entertaining and enjoyable way to experience Carson City’s Victorian Era and diverse history. Hear about lingering spirits of the past centuries, haunted and paranormal stories and meet characters and supernatural legends as you tour the historic district.

In our region, as well as in many areas across the country, there have been massive spikes in COVID-19 transmissions over the past few months. Even as restaurants and bars were reopened, daily positive cases were generally staying within single digits inside the Quad-County region.

However, between October and December, both test positivity rates as well as overall cases — and deaths — have seen a massive increase. Local health organizations are now not only fighting against the disease, but against misinformation campaigns as well.

Sometimes to make things happen, you must just reach out and ask for help. With so many unusual challenges and disappointments facing us this year, the thought not being able to light up our capitol or the Governor’s Mansion for the holidays due to the pandemic was unacceptable.

As area hospitals are quickly filling up with COVID-19 and non COVID-19 patients alike, Carson Tahoe Health (CTH) has joined the unfortunate ranks.

Thankfully, CTH thought ahead and for the second time since the pandemic began, they chose to postpone all elective surgeries until the surge in cases is back under control.

On a beautiful Northern Nevada day, werewolves, pirates, escaped prisoners, witches, scuba divers, a Top Gun Tom Cruise look-alike, and other costumed creatures came out in force on Friday, October 30th to play in the Halloween Golf Scramble held at Silver Oak Golf to support the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce.

On October 31, 2020, at approximately 6:20 am, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to AM/PM gas station located at 1676 US Highway 395 North, Minden for a report of a robbery. The suspect concealed his identity by wearing a Halloween wig and mask.

Happy (almost) Halloween readers! This year, due to Nevada Day falling on a Saturday, trick or treating is being held tonight, Friday Oct. 30 in the capital city.

Heading into the final weekend of October, Halloween and Nevada Day events will keep revelers busy through Sunday making for a jam packed weekend of fun for families and grownups around the Carson City region.

UPDATE 7:13PM: Traffic should be cleared in all directions after 7:30 p.m. said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. With two vehicle crashes earlier and the Boo-Nanza Halloween celebration at Centennial Park that ended at 7 p.m., traffic along Highway 50 East has been significantly impacted with delays.

Celebrating Halloween in Carson City is really unlike any other place because the holiday sometimes lands on the same day as many Nevada Day festivities are underway. To have a more organized and safe Halloween for children, Carson City will again host its "BOOnanza" celebration this Thursday, and the Children's Museum will host a safe trick or treating event Friday.

The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department will host a special Full Moon Hike this Saturday, October 31st, at Silver Saddle Ranch. Come experience a full moon costume adventure that can only happen once in a Blue Moon.

Meet at Silver Saddle Ranch dressed in your best Halloween Costume. We will walk to the Carson River and back to ranch in a 2 mile loop. The trail is considered Easy according to the IMBA Trail Rating System.

Halloween will be celebrated this week at one of the most haunted destinations in the country, Virginia City, where the Wild West and ghosts of the past are part of the Comstock's legendary folklore.

This Saturday, Oct. 31 from 2 to 8 p.m. Crazy Cat Dog Grooming in Carson City will host a safe trick or treat for the community. There will be a professional photographer on site for Halloween photos.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. The Nevada Day Golf Tournament in remembrance of Mayor Bob Crowell will be held at Silver Oak Ranch Golf Course on Saturday. Dozens of fundraisers, including the Benson’s Feed 4 Paws 4-H group, will be scattered throughout the Carson City and Gardnerville areas. At his most recent press conference, the governor declared many of us as COVID fatigued. The Carson City Chamber has partnered with the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada to temporarily reduce some of the fatigue by organizing a bit of Halloween golf and fun for those who just want to enjoy the outdoors while practicing all the current COVID safety protocols.

Since winter is right around the corner, there may not be many chances left to play golf.

Be chilled and thrilled with a Mad Science Halloween show, courtesy of the Carson City Library and made possible virtually via Zoom. Witness a devilish flame and spooky air pressure demonstrations that make even the scariest goblins say, "Oh my!" Also participate in live experiments during the show!

Each October, Nevadans turn their attention to the state capitol, Carson City, home of the “official” Nevada Day Parade. Since 1938, the Nevada Day Parade in Carson City has been an annual coming together to celebrate Nevada’s heritage and the founding of this great state on October 31, 1864.

CARSON CITY — V&T Railway is celebrating Halloween with family-friendly and spooky railbike rides. Running Friday, Oct. 23 through Sunday, Oct. 25 and Wednesday, Oct. 28 through Sunday, Oct. 31, V&T Railway will offer children and adult focused haunted railbike rides at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.

Heading into the weeknd, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City area. Lions Club kicks off its annual “White Cane Days” Saturday and Sunday in Carson City to increase awareness of the white cane traffic safety laws, and collect used eyeglasses for distribution to those in need.
