Carson City deputies arrest multiple suspects in unrelated burglary crimes

A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 3000 block of Thurman Circle early Thursday morning on nine counts including felony possession of stolen property, ex-felon in possession of a firearm, and six counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition, two other people were arrested in connection with this incident for obstruction after allegedly telling deputies the man wasn’t at home.

Gardnerville Retirement Community Will Be Recognized as 'Business of the Year' at Local Chamber Awards Event

The Chateau at Gardnerville, a Pegasus Senior Living assisted and memory care community, recently received the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce's 'Business of the Year' award.

The Chateau will be recognized as Business of the Year at the Chamber's Community Recognition Awards event at 7:30 p.m. on November 2 at the Carson Valley Inn, along with the other recipients in their respective categories. The event itself begins at 5:30 p.m. with a reception, dinner at 6:30 p.m. and then recognition of the award winners at 7:30 p.m.

September casino gaming revenue down in Carson City, up 6.8 percent statewide

September gaming revenue among Carson City area casinos fell 3.95 percent compared to a year ago, while statewide gaming revenue climbed overall by 6.83 percent, according to figures released Wednesday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

The event’s 25th anniversary will be dedicated to the memory of Jim McCormick, UNR Art Department chair, artist, curator and one of the founders of the show. Admission is free.

Judge denies request to delay trial in Gardnerville, Reno Nevada killings

RENO — Wilber Martinez-Guzman appeared in a Reno courtroom Monday, October 21, 2019 as his attorneys argued for a delay in the case.
Martinez-Guzman is accused of killing a Reno couple, Jerry and Sherri David, and Sophia Renken and Connie Koontz in their Gardnerville homes within a period of 10 days in early January 2019.

Prescription drug roundups happening Saturday in Carson City, Dayton and Douglas County

There are a number of prescription drug roundups happening this Saturday, Oct. 19 around the region, including drop-off stations in Carson City, Douglas County and Dayton.

These annual events help protect the community with proper disposal of unused or expired prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, prescription liquids, pet medications, syringes and more. The effort is part of the federal drug round-up initiative.

Smoke and haze from Caples Fire builds around Carson City region

The smoke and haze building around the Carson City region is due to the Caples Fire burning in the Eldorado National Forest. As of Sunday the fire had burned more than 2800 acres and was 35 percent contained.

This year’s awards were given at the Critical Issues Conference held on Thursday, September 26, 2019. Carson City, Douglas County locals enlist in the United States Army

The Carson City Army Recruiting Station is proud to welcome two of our newest Future Soldiers, Alissa Lucas and Taylor Clark. Alissa Lucas is currently a Senior at Carson High School and a member of the Junior ROTC.

She chose to attend training to be Military Police and will leave after high school graduation. Taylor Clark is from Gardnerville and a 2019 graduate of Douglas High School. She chose to become an Intelligence Analyst and leaves for Basic Training in November. Congratulations to you both for making the decision to serve our country!

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office host annual Fright Night at Fairgrounds weekends in October

CARSON CITY — Single lane closures will take place on U.S. 395 south of Gardnerville the evenings of Sept. 23 and Sept. 24 as the Nevada Department of Transportation replaces a cattle guard across the highway.
