McCulloch has hot hand on chilly opening day at regional golf tournament
After watching rain turn to snow through the afternoon, Colin McCulloch couldn't have been happier when opening round play in the Northern 4A Regional Boys Golf Tournament was finally suspended on Monday afternoon at Empire Ranch Golf Course.
"I'm so cold right now," the Carson High sophomore said afterward, glancing out on a course where snow was starting to stick. "It was pretty tough. Starting on 15, I could barely grip the club."
Well, McCulloch would have been happier if play had been stopped on that 15th hole, since he took a double bogey that dropped his score to 2-over par for the day with three holes left to play. Then again, McCulloch was downright thrilled about a performance that put him within striking distance of the individual leaders in a tournament that is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday.Â
