It's mid-April and the Carson High baseball team stands fifth in the Sierra League with some ground to make up if it wants to qualify for the Northern 4A Regional Tournament. Don't count the Senators out just yet because they're looking to move up.
Carson did some fine-tuning for its stretch run on Tuesday afternoon with a 12-2 non-league victory against Sparks at Ron McNutt Field. Coupled with its 3-0 win against North Valleys on Monday night -- a game in which Connor Beattie pitched a complete game one-hitter -- the Senators have improved their overall season record to 7-10 coming into another home game today at 5 p.m. against Reed.
