On Feb. 8 at 6:30pm, the Douglas County Historical Society presents a 55-minute Chautauqua presentation of Lake Tahoe’s wealthy and eccentric George and Elia Whittell. UPDATE: 8:58PM: A 14-year old Carson City female pedestrian died at the scene of a vehicle crash Sunday night on North Carson Street, according to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

The girl was struck in the 3100 block of North Carson and East Nye Lane at around 5:40 p.m. At arrival, CCSO deputies began administering life-saving medical attention. However, upon the arrival of fire, paramedic units the teen was declared deceased at the scene.
