A retired health teacher and probation officer, Schuette founded the non-profit Carson Animal Services Initiative (CASI), which helped raise money to build and equip the new animal shelter.

Is this pandemic over with yet? Nope! Not to beat a dead horse, but what is everyone doing with all this time off? For some, time off would be a fantastic development in their busy lives, and for others, time off would be an awful development because they are not able to pay their bills if they cannot go to work.

The point here is clear: Those who need time off cannot have it, and those who have time off do not want it. This is where hope, attitude, and contentment come into play. It is time for a laugh.

The English Language Learners In-Home Program (formerly ESL In-Home Program of Nevada) has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic: Our ESL tutors are assisting their learners ONLINE and, or by telephone to continue English lessons. We used to be in-home, we are now at-home.

Staying connected to students, virtually, is the biggest challenge every educator is facing right now. Teachers, paraprofessionals, school counselors, administrators, school secretaries, custodians, and everyone for that matter is missing the energy and life students bring to our worlds.

The Carson City Chapter of the Citizens' Climate Lobby has moved its meeting online and will use the Zoom app. As we all cope with the pandemic, we can continue to care about and support activities that will help us cope with climate change. Join us to find out what you can do. We are a non-partisan group and welcome all interested people.

Carson City Candidate Forum from the Carson City Republican Committee. All active voters in Carson City will be receiving, via postal mail, their mail-in ballot the first week of May and the Carson City Republican Committee want you to be ready for the upcoming Primary Election on June 9.

Mike Smith, Ward 4 candidate for the Carson City Board of Supervisors, will be the featured speaker at Monday's virtual Democratic luncheon. A retired high school principal, Smith currently serves on the Redevelopment Authority's Citizens Committee and the Symphony Association's Board of Trustees.

During this pandemic, I would love to think I am in fact a builder because I strive to see the best in this, because I have been helping those struggling immensely during these hard times, and because I am doing my best to help the medical professionals I know.

Chas Macquarie of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby will be the guest speaker at Monday's virtual Democratic luncheon. In addition to laying out the scientific fundamentals of climate change, Macquarie's presentation will touch on the potential climate implications of social and cultural changes resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dear Friends, I wanted to send my very best wishes to each of you for a peaceful and safe Spring Break. During the past three weeks, I have marveled at the professional services and selfless acts of kindness you have delivered during one of the most incredible events of my career.

Despite the challenges assisted living and memory care communities are facing during the novel coronavirus pandemic, the training and certification of team members continue to be a priority not only for communities like Mission Senior Living but also for the state of Nevada, which requires ongoing certification for medical technicians.

Even with the stay-at-home order in place, businesses, families and youth can engage in a number of educational activities online to enhance their daily lives and help themselves, and others, through these challenging days. Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, University of Nevada, Reno Extension faculty, staff and volunteers have been hard at work to bring educational workshops, programs and resources useful during this time, into Nevadans’ homes.

Air Force Veteran and Carson High math, science and special ed teacher Tod Jennings will the the guest speaker at Monday's virtual Democratic luncheon. Jennings will be on the June primary ballot as a candidate for mayor of Carson City.

Partnership Carson City will host a no cost informative webinar series every Tuesday at 3 p.m., each week covering a different topic that focuses on continuing to build a healthy, strong community.

Well Being has closed its doors to walk-in traffic like many small business in the state. But we have continued to offer services on-line for our members and area residents. The Student Council at Carson High School named its 2020 Prom Queen and King on Monday morning, making the announcement via an online Zoom meeting, creating a real-time video of the event.
