It is also a Wednesday, so there are some typical Wednesday things going on about town, but New Year’s is the big deal today. Below is listed a plethora of local New Year’s activities, so take a gander, get yourself dressed up, and have a fantastic (and safe) night on the town! Take your little one to the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada for a story and craft activity or enjoy hot chocolate and a twirl around the ice rink.

Monday, Dec. 29: Things to do in Carson City

Carson Basketball: Senators land enough Christmas buckets at home to put away Reed

Carson claimed the 5 p.m. tip off but it was Reed that stepped out early and took the first points after a transition and three steals.
Arlington Square Ice Rink hours for Winter Break
Submitted by Danielle Cook on Sat, 12/20/2014 - 2:22pmFor the next two weeks, the Arlington Square Ice Skating Rink at the corner of N. Carson St. and W. Robinson St. will have modified hours. A concession stand is located inside the rink tent offering hot chocolate, coffee and small snacks.
Senator Square: Holiday concerts ahead as Carson High choir students earn recognition

Donations are welcome. Meanwhile, Carson High School has had a number of their singing Senators recognized for their vocal talents already this year.

Ice Skating Rink returns to Carson City's Arlington Square

Carson St. Opening day will be Friday, Nov. 28, the day after Thanksgiving, with three session times to choose from: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., 2 p.m. - 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Skate rental is $3 and a skate session is $7 for those over 13 years old and $5 for youth 3-12 years old.
Afterschool Skate Special for Elementary and Middle School Students:
Monday - Thursday 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.: $5 skating includes skates and one hot beverage of choice.
WNC Offers Fall and Winter Driver Education Courses in Carson City and Douglas County
Submitted by admin on Fri, 09/12/2014 - 6:38amCARSON CITY – New Driver Education courses for teens age 15 and older will be offered at Western Nevada College this fall and over the winter break. All courses are $100. Each session includes four days of instruction, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Two courses will meet on the WNC Carson City Campus on Saturdays, Sept. 20-Oct. 18, or Oct. 18-Nov. 15 (no class Nov. 1, Nevada Day Weekend). A winter break class will be offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, Dec. 29, 30, 31 and Jan. 2. The Carson City classes include four hours on a driving simulator.
WNC New Driver Education Class in Carson City and Douglas

The cost for the winter break class is $95. After January, the cost will be $100. Each session includes four days of instruction, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
WNC will offer one winter break class in Carson City, Monday, Dec. 30 and Thursday, Friday and Saturday, January 2, 3, 4 (no class Tuesday and Wednesday, December 31 and January 1) at Silver State Charter High School.

Water damage reported at Carson Middle School
Submitted by editor on Sat, 12/18/2010 - 1:59pmCarson City fire personnel are investigating heavy water damage this afternoon at Carson Middle School.
An initial fire alarm call from the school, located at 1440 King Street, came into city dispatch around noon.
Significant water damage, roof leaks and some flooding is being reported after a subsequent review of at least one of the classrooms and the main hallway, said Bob Charles, battalion chief for the Carson City Fire Department.
