Carson City Sheriff's Office seeks volunteers for VIP citizen policing program

Also known as VIPS, the sheriff's office is looking for persons to assist in citizen patrol, administrative support, front counter reception and the jail visitation program.

RSVP program collects items for homeless vets and vets in need for 2019 MLK Day of Service

The MLK Day of Service is not just a day off, but an opportunity to serve. Americans from all walks of life work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems. “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” Dr. King asked.
Carson City area Veterans of America chapter donates $4K for WNC vets center

WNC Veterans Resource Center taking donations this week for homeless vets

Kutz for Heroes hosted by Twisted Scizzors in Carson City continues Sunday

The salon will provide free haircuts for veterans, activity duty and first responders, plus they can find help locating available services. Event runs through 3 p.m. today, Sunday, November 4.

Twisted Scizzors hair salon in Carson City to host weekend 'Kutz for Heroes' event

The salon will provide free haircuts for veterans, activity duty and first responders. Proceeds to benefit Red, White and Blue Dog Tags.
The Saturday, Nov. 3 event is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a 9 a.m. grand opening ceremony with Color Guard. Shelby Jackson will perform the National Anthem.
Chili competitors at Carson City cook-off raise their game to benefit veterans

But chili flavors stole the show, which raises money to send veterans back East to Washington, D.C., on an all-expenses-paid trip that also pays tribute to their military service.

Carson City vets group that does family funeral transports continues fundraiser for bus repairs

The honor guard still needs help in order to achieve its vehicle repair goal.
