Presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke will hold a town hall meeting in Carson City today, Thursday, at Gather restaurant, 402 North Carson Street. The meeting starts at 1:30 p.m. See the Facebook page appearance schedule here.

Brad Bonkowski, Carson City Ward 2 Supervisor and Chair of the Carson City RTC (Regional Transportation Commission) will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. His appearance is intended as a town hall on the still unresolved issue of how maintenance of Carson's 676 lane-miles of roadway should be funded.

CARSON CITY — January is National Radon Action Month, and University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Radon Education Program is offering free short-term radon test kits to Nevadans from Jan. 2 through Feb. 28. Radon test kits are available at Cooperative Extension offices and partnering locations, as well as at presentations, statewide.

The oldest settlement in Nevada will keep with one of the oldest Christmas traditions this Friday: Caroling and tree lighting. Everyone attending is to meet at the Genoa Church at 5:30 pm.

The rumors of Santa Claus coming to town are true. The jolly old man is making several appearances today, and is feeling photogenic. Take a ride with him at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, join him on the ‘Elf Crawl’ from the Capitol to the Carson Mall, or tell him your wish list at Debug Computers. Adults have a hard choice to make: the monthly downtown wine walk and the Holiday with a Hero Pub Crawl both take place today, and I’m not sure I’d recommend attempting both.

Tis the season for visits with Santa, holiday twinkle lights, and craft fairs and festivals. In order to make your December planning a little easier, take a look at what is coming up in the Carson City, Carson Valley, Dayton, and Virginia City area. Go deck the halls, get some jingle bells, and wassail away.

Everywhere you look, we are ready for Halloween: skeletons and cobwebs, pumpkins and monsters, witches and headstones. Tonight is the real deal. There have been several Halloween celebrations already, but nothing beats trick-or-treat night. Get started at the Carson Mall, then head over to the Nevada Humane Society for even more candy. The Downtown Business Association welcomes the costumed kids to their Candy Crawl. But there’s nothing quite like the historic west side when it comes to Halloween.

Tricks, treats, and fun for all ages is what Halloween is about. You’ll find numerous reasons to don a costume in this year’s list of everything Halloween. Parties for the adult crowd, haunted houses, and trick or treating are just the tip of the broomstick. Everything is listed chronologically by start time. If it is located outside of Carson City, I’ve put the name of the town in bold face.

Well, that was an abrupt change in weather. Today will definite feel like fall, so bundle up. The Halloween festivities for the over 21 crowd get started tonight with parties at Living the Good Life, Ed's Doghouse, and Jimmy G's Cigar Bar. If your costume isn't ready yet, you'll still have plenty of opportunities between now and Oct. 31. A hypnotic fundraiser for Mark Lindquist takes place at Silver Oak Golf Course this evening.

Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-02) will host a veterans' town hall meeting on Tuesday, August 29, 10 a.m. to noon at the Old Court House located at 1616 8th Street in Minden.

Please join other Lyon County Democrats and friends at a Town Hall event for Democratic candidate for U. S. Senator from Nevada, Jesse Sbaih. The meeting will be held Friday, July 14 at the Senior Center in Silver Springs at 6:00 PM.

Lyon County has been notified by the National Weather Service that flows on the Walker River are being forecasted to run higher than what was earlier anticipated, according to county manager Jeff Page.

YERINGTON — Lyon County Manager Jeff Page announced that Lyon County will be hosting a Town Hall meeting to inform the public of the flood potential on the Walker River system.

YERINGTON, Nev. — As Lyon County continues to recover from the January and February flood events, agencies, leaders and department heads continue to plan for the upcoming spring and summer runoff and the subsequent flooding that is expected.

United States Sen. Dean Heller and U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei were the featured guest speakers at Wednesday's monthly Soup's On luncheon series sponsored by the Carson City Chamber of Commerce.

Their presence attracted a sold-out crowd inside the banquet room at the Gold Dust West Casino, 2171 East William Street in Carson City, as well as dozens of protesters outside of the facility.

Another atmospheric river is headed our way today through Tuesday bringing periods of torrential rain and strong winds to Carson City, the valley areas and several feet of snow to the Sierra and Lake Tahoe, according to the National Weather Service.
