The Carson City Kiwanis Annual Spaghetti Feed will take place on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center located at 911 Beverly Drive. The entirety of the funds raised from this event will support the Carson City Senior Citizen’s Center’s Meals on Wheels program.

Carpa Nevada, LLC and Downtown Coin in their third year of partnership have presented a check for $803 to Pets of The Homeless, a non-profit focused on feeding and providing emergency veterinary care to pets of the homeless.

Over his more than 60-year career as a custom bow maker, or bowyer, Tim Meigs, 89, made more than 9,000 custom bows for archers around the world.

He ended his career at the top of his field, but he got off to an inauspicious start.

Last week Cory, from The Greenhouse Project, and I were discussing if foliar fertilization of plants was effective. He regularly sprays compost tea and other organic fertilizers on the vegetables in the greenhouse.

If you’re anything like me, there are still plenty of last-minute preparations for the holiday. Luckily the shops and businesses around Carson City are there with open arms. Find something one of a kind at the Carson Mall Craft Fair, drop it off at the Rainbow Girls Assembly #7 gift wrapping booth, and grab lunch while you wait. Breakfast with Santa at the Fox Brewpub serves as a toy drive for area kids and as no-fuss way to get start the day with a full belly. Read on for a weekend full of holiday happenings.

A first of its kind Christmas party at Western Nevada College, known as Posada, was celebrated Saturday at the campus in Carson City.

The Carson City Senior Center collected more than 550 gifts from area residents and businesses for homebound seniors this year. The Carson City Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels program delivers almost 300 meals to homebound seniors daily. In the past year, the Center has provided over 79,500 hot meals.

Santa comes in all shapes, sizes, and apparently, vehicles. Hop aboard the Santa Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum. It’s an out-of-this-world Alien Santa at the annual Zen Christmas at A to Zen. A cookie-loving Santa can be found at Adele’s during their annual toy drive for the Ron Wood Resource Center. If your ‘kids’ are the four-legged kind, then head over to PetSmart or Paws to Pur-fection Dog Grooming for your holiday photos. In addition to the Santa-mania, you’ll find a downtown Carson Beer Crawl, two plays at the Brewery Arts Center, and plenty of music.

This Christmas party is the first of its kind at Western Nevada College, and you won’t want to miss it. WNC's Latino Cohort is helping the community get into Christmas spirit by celebrating the first-ever Posada celebration on Saturday, Dec. 16 at Carson Nugget Hall on the Carson City campus.

Flavors of India’s grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration is taking place Saturday at noon. City officials and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce will be bringing the giant ribbon and scissors to kick off the restaurant's first day of business.

NEW WASHOE CITY, Nev. – December programs at Washoe Lake include a full moon hike, a winter solstice hike, and a Christmas-themed slide presentation. Reservations are required only for the full moon hike.

An old-fashioned “Holiday Open House” returns to Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park Saturday, December 9 and 16 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm both days.

The exhibit includes toys from the 1870s through the 1890s that were played with by Fred Dangberg, Jr., and his siblings, as well as numerous toys enjoyed by Fred’s five children and one grandson from the 1900s through the 1940s.

CARSON CITY – The Union’s coffee shop, the second arm of the restaurant’s eatery, coffee bar and tap house trifecta, has spent the last week perfecting processes and procedures and has announced it will be open daily at 7 a.m. The coffee bar entrance is located on Curry Street, behind The Union at 302 N. Carson Street.

Carson City is once again celebrating the cult classic, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," with a party and screening of the original musical this Friday, Oct. 27. This is Proscenium Players, Inc. and Brewery Art Center's 3rd annual event, so come down and support your local theater community while having a great time.

A 35-year old Carson City woman was arrested Monday afternoon for misdemeanor suspicion of petit larceny and violation of alternative sentencing conditions after attempting to steal merchandise from Walmart, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Summer is holding on for dear life, and sending a miniature heat wave our way for this long weekend. Douglas County has Summerfest in Minden Park: live music, yummy eats, and a come-as-you-are car show sure to get Carson Valley hoppin.

The Annual Chili Cook-off returns to Glen Eagles this weekend; with live music, a craft fair, and lots of yummy stuff to eat, raising money for Honor Flight has never tasted so good. Planes, trains, and automobiles take over Carson City this weekend. Steampunk ‘N’ Trains at the Nevada Railroad Museum features train rides, fun costumes, food trucks and more. You’ll find two car shows in town – the Party at the Pavilion as part of the Nevada State Fair and the Carson City Downtown Revival Car Show at the Carson Nugget. The Carson Airport Fly-In and Open House has plenty of aeronautic fun in store. You’ll have to keep reading for all of the fun options in Carson City and the surrounding valleys.

This edition of It's Your City with host Cortney Bloomer features Diane Rhea of American Tea Mistresses who discusses two upcoming fundraisers. The Tea Mistresses are a group of women who portray women of Nevada history from 1864 to the 1900s.

The poisonous plant that killed Socrates is alive and booming along the Truckee River in Reno. But if you don’t chug a jug of hemlock tea or accidentally toss it in a salad you’ll probably be ok.

It’s going to be gorgeous all weekend long, and there are plenty of ways to take advantage of the sunny weather. The Annual Cops and Kids Open House at the Carson City Sheriff’s Department is a family favorite with free food, activities, and games. Treasure hunters will be kept busy with the Genoa Community Garage Sale, as well as one encompassing the Saratoga Springs area of Johnson Lane. The Littlest things will be holding our annual tea party at the Governor's Mansion this year.

This event is one of our two annual fundraisers helping to raise funds for the animals we rescue and the farm animals in our petting zoo.

The American Tea Mistresses will be there. We have a great silent Auction planned, terrific raffle prizes, food and tea!

The Littlest Things non-profit rescues animals, holds petting zoo events teaching families how to care for farm animals, and hosts kindness events in the community.

Smack dab in the middle of April and the town is officially in its Spring thaw. Easter is on Sunday, so just about anywhere you go you’ll find the Bunny and an egg hunt. To make it easy, I’ve moved all of those events to their own everything Easter list HERE.

Bet your bottom dollar that it will be a great weekend. Wild Horse Children’s Theater finishes up its spring production of ‘Annie, Jr: The Musical,’ so don’t miss your chance to catch these talented kids on stage. Muscle Powered will be out and about for their monthly Trash Mob and invite you to help clean up a little corner of our valley.
