Senator Square: Destination unknown is theme of Carson High School's 2021 Winterfest

Students from all four classes recently nominated Carson High School Winterfest candidates for 2021 Winterfest week, Feb. 1-5, where both a King and Queen will be crowned. The theme, Destination Unknown, was decided upon; since students are not allowed to experience the vacations they love, they are bringing their vacation destinations to CHS.

Comma Coffee is hosting a reception for their newest display, the ‘Break These Chains Live Free’ Art Exhibit, featuring the winning pieces from a high school contest designed to bring awareness to human trafficking. A cute new shop downtown, Rustically Divine, celebrates it’s Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting.

Winterfest 2018 is here, and the theme is “Into the Depps of Winterfest"— as in Johnny Depp — with a week stuffed full of fun activities. Depp says, “I think the thing to do is to enjoy the ride while you’re on it” and this is what Carson High School students intend to do all week long.

Check in is at 9 a.m. Auditions begin at 10 a.m. A $500 cash prize will be awarded to the first place performing act, $250 for second place and $100 for third.

Local Disabled Veteran Entertains Local Disabled Veterans

On February 13, through CHS’ leadership class led by teacher and advisor Ann Britt, we had the privilege of having students from Efterskolen Frydensberg, a Danish boarding school, come to CHS as a part of an annual 10th grade trip to America.

This year’s Winterfest theme is hanging out with Harry Potter, and the plan is to turn CHS into Hogwarts with teachers creating a Hogwarts’ themed door followed by a door decorating contest.

Much of Carson High Schools’ success flows from the voluntary assistance of individuals and businesses selflessly giving of their time, their effort, and their resources to the advancement of Carson City’s youth and local community.

Senator Square: Honor Society holds winter blood drive; signups begin for Polar Plunge

National Honor Society is hosting its winter blood drive. It will take place on January 28 in the library from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. It is open to community members.  Refreshments and a free cholesterol test is available with each donation.
