Sierra Nevada snowpack not miraculous despite March precipitation

Though the amount is encouraging, the snowpack hasn’t kept pace, as demonstrated Wednesday at a California Department of Water Resources snow survey in the Sierra above Lake Tahoe.

Ibarra participated in two years of auto technician courses and two years in auto body courses. Gershel experimented in a variety of CTE courses including culinary, web design and welding.

For the past month V&T conducted surveys for customer feedback about their experience with the railroad. Each survey participant was entered in a giveaway to win four coach tickets to the highly anticipated opening weekend of holiday train, Nov. 17-20.

But Carson City residents don't have to leave the Eagle Valley to catch glimpses of raptors. We've got them in our own backyards.
Nevada to participate in national survey to study economic impact of community arts

The study is being conducted by Americans for the Arts, the leading nonprofit arts organization for advancing the arts in the United States. The Council is one of nearly 300 study partners across the U.S. that will help with gathering detailed financial and event attendance data from nonprofit arts and cultural organizations during 2016.

State awards $5.6 million to schools for mental health workers

All eleven school districts that applied for the grant received funding, as well as six charter schools.
Column: Protect Yourself from Financial Abuse

It seems about 1 in 5 folks age 65 or older have been victimized by financial fraud. The National Council on Aging said "over 90 percent of reported elder abuse is committed by the older person's own family members."
Snow survey: California snowpack at 136 percent of normal, drought concerns remain

Earthquake activity continues Wednesday in south Reno area
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 12/23/2015 - 12:26pmAn earthquake swarm continues to rattle the Reno area today with more than 30 events recorded since Tuesday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The largest quake was a 4.4 magnitude recorded at 10:46 p.m. It was felt as far south as Carson City and east into the Dayton area. No serious damage was reported.
The most recent quake had a 1.9 magnitude at 9:26 a.m. Wednesday morning.
