"I've never been here," President Obama told the crowd Wednesday at Harvey's Outdoor Arena in Stateline. "Its not that I didn't want to come, but nobody invited me."
The President quipped he's sure to return, "though my transportation won't be as nice."

Public bus from South Tahoe to Carson City may be cut due to lack of funding

A key piece of funding for the transit system was cut when federal highway officials changed Lake Tahoe from a rural area to an urban area. A decision is expected Oct. 2.

In 1997, Reid hosted the first summit in response to declining water clarity and environmental conditions at the Lake Tahoe Basin. The first summit, attended by then-President Bill Clinton and Vice-President Al Gore, brought national attention to the lake and spurred passage of the first Lake Tahoe Restoration Act in 2000.

The robbery happened at US Bank, 229 Kingsbury Grade in Stateline. The suspect is a white male in his mid 20’s, 6 feet tall with blonde hair, wearing a black fleece type jacket and white shorts.
At 3:19 p.m. the suspect entered the bank and passed a note to a teller. According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office the suspect reportedly had a handgun.

Contrary to the general public perception, the California-Nevada border region is at risk for large, magnitude 7-plus earthquakes striking the greater Reno-Tahoe region. In a magnitude 6 earthquake, according to FEMA estimates, the region could suffer billions of dollars in damage: $1.9 billion in the Reno/Sparks area and $590 million in the Stateline area.
