Concert Under the Stars brings couple from Illinois to Carson City just to see the show

The Annual Concert Under the Stars at Adele’s is already sold out, but there are still options if you didn't get a ticket. Tonight, check out the Jazz Jam at Sassafras with Rick Metz’ First Take, or bring an instrument to the Jam with Josh and Janera at the Firkin and Fox. Glen Eagles features Terri and Craig in the lounge for some, and you’ll find Lynne and Mick at Living the Good Life for dinner entertainment. Kick up your cowboy boots at Line Dancing lessons in the Eleventh Frame Lounge at Carson Lanes.

Submitted by Rachel Spacek on Sat, 07/04/2015 - 11:32pmWhat began as a July 4th shrouded in clouds and the threat of thunderstorms ended Saturday in glorious, patriotic fashion with a 27-minute fireworks display at Mills Park in Carson City.
The 23rd annual event hosted by RSVP and Carson City Toyota-Scion, was among the longest displays in recent memory, filled with assorted colors of white and blue, with all the rockets red glare.

RSVP is host of the 4th of July Celebration and Carnival in Mills Park, now in its 23rd year. Carson City Toyota-Scion has partnered with RSVP and Cumulus Media to provide a live radio remote on Magic 95.5 FM which is live and on-air now, that will lead up to a broadcast of patriotic music and simulcast to the fireworks display at dusk.

Ambrosia will be in the house performing their numerous hits and new offerings, including their latest song “Hopes & Dreams,” written for and featured in the movie, “The Sparrows Nesting."

The annual Powwow at the Stewart Indian School runs Friday through Sunday, so you’ll have plenty of time to see the dancing, peruse the crafts, and eat an Indian Taco. Don’t miss the Fly-in and Open House at the Carson City Airport: fun for the whole family. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention one of Carson City’s favorite events: the Taste of Downtown. Music, food, and more from Carson Mall to Williams Street. Have a great time, and be safe.
Stargazing events Friday and Saturday at Spooner Lake and Washoe Lake parks

The first is a laser-guided tour of starry wonders with professional stargazer Gigi Giles at Spooner Lake State Park.
Astronomy goers will be pleased with this unique and educational experience as they peer through the provided high powered telescopes and astronomical binoculars in the tranquil mountain air at an elevation of 7,000 feet.

Set for 11:30 a.m. at Heritage Park in Gardnerville, right after the Gardnerville Fun Run, this free concert is an ideal way for families to celebrate the Fourth in an old fashioned, small town setting. Head over to Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery and wish them a happy fourth anniversary, Jeffery will be serving up one of his signature Sangrias. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church won best wine walk stop last month and will have live music. Don’t forget to spend some time inside Westside Pour House: ARTistically INKlined pop-up gallery returns and proves that tattoo artists are first, and foremost, artists.

The event: The American Century Championship. At stake: a share in the $625,000 prize purse. Shiner, by promising young playwright Christian Durso, follows two 13-year-olds Jake and Margot, in 1994, who form their own grunge-music fan club to celebrate all things Nirvana. Soon Jake and Margot become bound as much by their shared insecurities as by their music. The two teens make a pact to die happy. All they need to do is see Nirvana live in concert and then they will jump off the 101 overpass.
