If Wednesday night’s Concert under the Stars in Carson City with Ambrosia and Pablo Cruise was anything else other than a spectacular rock and roll fundraiser for the Greenhouse Project, it was also where new and old friends came together from places far and wide to celebrate.

Classical music of Spain and Hollywood’s most celebrated movie scores will highlight a weekend filled with Latin-fused flamenco and string symphony as world renowned guitarist Ana Vidović, opens and famed double bass player Jeremy McCoy closes the second weekend of Lake Tahoe SummerFest, Aug. 7-9 in Incline Village, Nev.

It’s a great day for music in Carson City. The Annual Concert Under the Stars at Adele’s is already sold out, but there are still options if you didn't get a ticket. Tonight, check out the Jazz Jam at Sassafras with Rick Metz’ First Take, or bring an instrument to the Jam with Josh and Janera at the Firkin and Fox. Glen Eagles features Terri and Craig in the lounge for some, and you’ll find Lynne and Mick at Living the Good Life for dinner entertainment. Kick up your cowboy boots at Line Dancing lessons in the Eleventh Frame Lounge at Carson Lanes.

What began as a July 4th shrouded in clouds and the threat of thunderstorms ended Saturday in glorious, patriotic fashion with a 27-minute fireworks display at Mills Park in Carson City.

The 23rd annual event hosted by RSVP and Carson City Toyota-Scion, was among the longest displays in recent memory, filled with assorted colors of white and blue, with all the rockets red glare.

Skies are clearing and storm watches have been lifted. It should be a great night for July 4 fireworks at Mills Park in Carson City.

RSVP is host of the 4th of July Celebration and Carnival in Mills Park, now in its 23rd year. Carson City Toyota-Scion has partnered with RSVP and Cumulus Media to provide a live radio remote on Magic 95.5 FM which is live and on-air now, that will lead up to a broadcast of patriotic music and simulcast to the fireworks display at dusk.

The Concert Under the Stars featuring Ambrosia and Pablo Cruise on Wednesday, July 8 is sold out, but you can win tickets right here.

Ambrosia will be in the house performing their numerous hits and new offerings, including their latest song “Hopes & Dreams,” written for and featured in the movie, “The Sparrows Nesting."

The solstice couldn’t come at a better time: we need some long days to get through all the fun stuff Carson City has crammed into one weekend. The annual Powwow at the Stewart Indian School runs Friday through Sunday, so you’ll have plenty of time to see the dancing, peruse the crafts, and eat an Indian Taco. Don’t miss the Fly-in and Open House at the Carson City Airport: fun for the whole family. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention one of Carson City’s favorite events: the Taste of Downtown. Music, food, and more from Carson Mall to Williams Street. Have a great time, and be safe.

Stargazers can enjoy two guided tour events offered Friday and Saturday through Nevada State Parks.
The first is a laser-guided tour of starry wonders with professional stargazer Gigi Giles at Spooner Lake State Park.

Astronomy goers will be pleased with this unique and educational experience as they peer through the provided high powered telescopes and astronomical binoculars in the tranquil mountain air at an elevation of 7,000 feet.

The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra is bringing back their traditional July Fourth Concert in the Park. Set for 11:30 a.m. at Heritage Park in Gardnerville, right after the Gardnerville Fun Run, this free concert is an ideal way for families to celebrate the Fourth in an old fashioned, small town setting. Bring your picinic and a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the patriotic line up of traditional July Fourth tunes.

Silver Dollar Cruise Night is at Dunkin' Donuts; every Thursday through summer you'll find hot rods, street racers, and cool old cars at a different location.

Megastar and multi-talented artist Justin Timberlake will join superstar athletes and entertainers for the first time this summer at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. The much-decorated performer is an avid golfer who plays to a six handicap and is renowned in the sport for his philanthropic endeavors.

Youth Theatre Carson City is excited to announce auditions for our upcoming production of "Peter Pan" will be on Saturday, June 13 at the Carson City Community Center. Auditions are open to youth ages 5-21.
Performances will be July 31-Aug. 9 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the community center.

First things first. Saturday afternoon could be expecting some wet weather, so be prepared. I can’t predict what events may be affected by it, or if the rain will even show up. No worries for you wine walkers, though, downtown will be hopping: rain, shine, or blizzard. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church won best wine walk stop last month and will have live music. Don’t forget to spend some time inside Westside Pour House: ARTistically INKlined pop-up gallery returns and proves that tattoo artists are first, and foremost, artists.

Thanks to the support of local agencies, businesses and the community, Concert Under the Stars, A Benefit for The Greenhouse Project has grown exponentially since its inception. Of course, this summer's Carson City event is no different. It is through the generous financial and material support that The Greenhouse Project, and also Capital FFA Chapter are able to succeed.

At stake: a share in the $625,000 prize purse. The scene: Six days of fist bumps, high fives, autograph signing, photos with fans, laughs galore and some great golf.

Good Luck Macbeth Theatre continues its 2015 season with one of its highly anticipated shows of the season, Shiner. Shiner, by promising young playwright Christian Durso, follows two 13-year-olds Jake and Margot, in 1994, who form their own grunge-music fan club to celebrate all things Nirvana. Soon Jake and Margot become bound as much by their shared insecurities as by their music. The two teens make a pact to die happy. All they need to do is see Nirvana live in concert and then they will jump off the 101 overpass.

Lake Tahoe SummerFest’s fourth season, “Passport to a World of Music,” will bring Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn to audiences July 31 – Aug. 16. The three weekend series of nine different concerts will transport attendees through masterpieces translated by renowned artists and a nationally acclaimed orchestra of 40 players.
