Carson City will soon be home to a championship disc golf course complex on the east side of town with a tentative opening sometime in spring 2018, according to Carson City Parks and Recreation officials.

“Peanutcracker – The Story In A Nutshell,” is a kid-sized version of the holiday classic, “The Nutcracker,” told in 45-minutes by 50 local school school children. Performed by Sierra Nevada Ballet, there will be performances Friday and Saturday at the Carson City Community Center.

It’s that time again. The Battle Born state celebrates its admission to the United States on the last Friday of October, with the annual Nevada Day parade on Saturday. New this year is a ‘Passport to Downtown’ event on Friday. Tickets are now on sale for the annual Celebrity Chef and Harvest Dinner, a benefit for The Greenhouse Project, Monday, Nov. 13, at Café at Adele’s. The evening features a six-course, wine- or beer-paired dinner dinner prepared by Chef Charlie Abowd, co-owner of Adele’s and Chef Kevin Ashton of Zozo’s Ristorante in Reno.

The 24th annual Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada Luau, the Club’s main fundraiser of the year, collected approximately 17 percent of its overall operating costs for the organization’s Carson City and Carson Valley locations. The event featured live music, dinner and no-host bar along with both live and silent auctions.

The Carson High School HOSA, Future Health Professionals had a Health Career Display Competition with 34 teams from 3 Health Science II classes. Each was judged on the display board’s information, artistic value and originality as well as a 5 minute oral presentation.

Unforgettable and exciting, this is how the Carson High School Homecoming celebration week began. Students enjoyed all the fun and festivities that began at 1 p.m. last Friday as every student in the school hustled to the big gym to prepare for and celebrate everything from the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior classes to the upcoming crowning of the 2017 Homecoming Queen and King.
