Along with libraries across the country, the Carson City Library will be celebrating Banned Books Week (Sept. 22-28) with a special event to thank authors whose work has been prohibited or challenged.
Between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, readers will gather at the library to write letters to authors to show support for writing about controversial subjects.

It’s going to get hot again today with a high of 93, but don’t worry, as we get out further into the week the weather will turn more autumnal with highs in the 70s. It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

Dangberg Home Ranch Celtic Faire coming to Carson Valley on Saturday, Sept. 14

Lockes Celebrate 50 years
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 08/16/2019 - 9:36amLouis and Peggy Locke, Founding Pastors of Fountainhead Foursquare Church in Carson City, Nevada, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 25th. Peggy also serves as Staff Chaplain for Carson Tahoe Health in Carson City. The Lockes took a ‘land and sea’ cruise of Alaska in July and continue to celebrate their special event by camping and being together with their family. Louis and Peggy have 4 sons, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
National Night Out: A Celebration of Community Policing and Safety Efforts

Retail Association of Nevada projects record $87 million in Silver State graduation spending

To celebrate these achievements, consumers in the Silver State will spend an estimated $86.8 million, according to projections by the Retail Association of Nevada.

The Cultural Commission will be making recommendations to the Redevelopment Authority regarding Arts and Culture Special Event funding, according to their meeting agenda.

Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. All Aboard: Carson Tahoe Health Auxiliary to host annual V&T Wine, Cheese and Dessert Train
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 04/28/2019 - 6:37pmThe Carson Tahoe Health Auxiliary, in one of its most popular fundraisers, will host its 6th annual V&T Wine, Cheese and Dessert Train from Carson City to Virginia City on Saturday, May 4, 2019.
The special event train leaves the Eastgate Depot in Carson City at 10 a.m. and arrives in Virginia City at approximately 11:30 a.m. The train arrives back in Carson City before 4:30 p.m. Tickets are pre-sold, and guests are asked to be at the Eastgate Depot by 9:30 a.m.

Some may call this hyperbole, but if someone actually took the time to do the research, he would find hyperbole is not the case as further evidence of this may be seen in the following letter written to all teachers within the school district by a friendly, kind, and professional Superintendent, Richard Stokes.
