My Bloody Valentine Roller Derby Charity Scrimmage Feb. 15 benefits homeless pets

Come watch the Carson Victory Rollers and other local derby skaters break some hearts on the track. My Bloody Valentine Charity Scrimmage rolls into the Carson City Community Center Gymnasium Sunday, Feb. 15: doors open at 4:30pm, Juniors skate at 4:45pm, Adults skate at 6:30pm.

Admission is $5 at the door or a suggested pet related donation item: dog or cat food, dog or cat treats, blankets, towels, toys, etc.

Nevada Humane Society wants you to ring in the New Year by making a resolution to neuter your male dog or cat during their Happy Neuter Year campaign.

Sponsored by PetSmart Charities, the largest funder of animal welfare efforts in North America, the Happy Neuter Year campaign will provide a limited number of $20 neuter surgeries for male dogs and cats during the month of January.

Catmandu to the rescue

A few months ago my neighbor found 4 kittens in her back yard. They were skin and bones and very frightened so she did what most of us would do, she began feeding them. When I got involved they had filled out considerably and two of them had started warming up to humans. Unfortunately, my neighbor is allergic to cats and my home was full-up with three dogs.
