Support your local nursing students by attending a spaghetti fundraising dinner on Friday, March 15 at Western Nevada College.

The National Student Nurses’ Association Western Nevada Chapter is holding the spaghetti feed at 6 p.m. in the Carson Nugget Community Hall in the Aspen Building.

Good morning, Carson City, on this first day of February. Our area has been enjoying Spring-like weather and temperatures all week long. Today will be no different, so enjoy the pleasant conditions while they last.

A series of storms is forecast to move into our region Saturday, dropping temperatures as well as rain and snow. As the photo suggests, rain in the morning is a sailor's warning, so batten down those hatches.

Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177 will hold a "Literacy for All" fundraising spaghetti dinner this Friday, Feb. 1 in support of ESL programs.

The Northern Nevada Dream Center will hold a "drive thru" food drive this Friday at Carson Mall in Carson City and are looking for donors to give food items and money to help the hungry in the community.

Summer fun is heating up! Let the kids burn off some energy at the Kids Triathlon at Mills Park. You’ll find all the colors of the rainbow, plus great music and fun times, at the Festival of Unity and Community: Sassabration. Get your grub on at the annual Nevada Honor Flight Chili Cook-off at Glen Eagles, and make sure to check out the craft vendors. Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation, also known as WARF, will return to downtown Carson City for the second annual “Pouring for Paws” fundraiser on Saturday, June 2, from 1-6 p.m. at McFadden Plaza.

Join Muscle Powered and our Parks and Recreation Department at the Silver Saddle Ranch for a presentation and trash mob. Kids will love the Carnival at Bordewich Elementary School, and it helps raise funds for a local Cub Scout Pack. Mark Twain Elementary is hosting their annual Color Run at Mills Park, just make sure to wear a white shirt.

With soggy weather here, some cancellations are inevitable. One thing you can count on, however, is the monthly Downtown Business Association’s wine walk; it’s a rain, shine, or blizzard event. Stay dry and well-fed with the Kiwanis annual BINGO Spaghetti Feed at the Carson Senior Center. March 14, or 3.14, is jokingly referred to as ‘Pi Day’ because of its resemblance to the mathematical constant. The Tahoe Mountain Milers host a fun run every year to celebrate. If you can run 3.14 miles in a time closest to 31.4 minutes, the bragging rights, and a delicious pie, will be yours. Spaghetti is on the menu at the Nevada Governor’s Mansion where the Nurses of Western Nevada College are hosting a fundraiser.

The Carson City Kiwanis Annual Spaghetti Feed will take place on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center located at 911 Beverly Drive. The entirety of the funds raised from this event will support the Carson City Senior Citizen’s Center’s Meals on Wheels program.

You are in for a Holiday Treat today; the annual Carson City Symphony Winter Concert with Victorian Dancers in beautiful costumes takes to the stage. Elsewhere, let the arrows fly during the Clearcreek Bowmen’s Holiday with a Hero fundraising 3-D shoot. Enjoy a Small Town Christmas in Dayton this evening. The festivities take place in ‘Our Park,’ at the western edge of town. An ugly sweater contest, hot chocolate, caroling, tree lighting and home-town fun are on the menu. The rumors of Santa Claus coming to town are true. The jolly old man is making several appearances today, and is feeling photogenic. Take a ride with him at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, join him on the ‘Elf Crawl’ from the Capitol to the Carson Mall, or tell him your wish list at Debug Computers. Adults have a hard choice to make: the monthly downtown wine walk and the Holiday with a Hero Pub Crawl both take place today, and I’m not sure I’d recommend attempting both.

The Nevada State Controller’s Office Information Technology Division, under the direction of Linnette Ollson, has been holding monthly team building exercises. In the past, they participated in a scavenger hunt, race car/track building and racing, painting, etc. Team members look forward to the events, which are fun, competitive and educational.

Sassafras hosts the Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz and you’ll find DJ Trivia at the Fox Brewpub.

Welcome to the weekend, Carson City. Now that we are in November, thoughts turn to the holiday season. That means craft fairs. St. Paul’s Lutheran Family on Saliman welcomes you to their annual Craftique Open House. You’ll find the Young at Heart Seniors Club hosting a faire at the Douglas County Community Center. The Carson Nugget’s Sierra Room will be home to several artisans, vendors, and crafters during today’s wine walk. There’s quite a bit more, and plenty that doesn’t involve shopping, so take a look and have a great time.

A Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser to support the Student Veterans Club of Western Nevada College will be on Saturday, Nov. 4. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and a raffle drawing at 7 pm. Tickets are $10 per person and are available by contacting: Kevin Burns in the Veterans Resource Center at (775) 445-3302 or Rick Vlach. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m.

The event will be held at Veterans Memorial Hall located at Second and Curry streets in Carson City.

Attention family members of any disabled American Veteran in the Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville, Dayton, TRE, Topaz, Lake Tahoe, Yerington or anywhere south of Washoe Valley: We are starting an Auxiliary for DAV Chapter 7 in Carson City.
