Carson CIty woman faces embezzlement charges against an elderly person

The woman, Leza L. Bulman, was arrested Wednesday at her home in the 200 block of Corbett. She faces a warrant charge of exploiting an elderly person and embezzlement of a person over the age of 60. Both are felonies. Bail was set at $3,000.

Democratic legislators this year are again lining up bills that would outlaw texting while driving and, in some cases, ban hand-held phone use while driving.
They’re continuing efforts in the 2009 session from Sen. Shirley Breeden, D-Henderson, whose text-banning bill died in committee. She’s sponsoring a similar bill this year.

Five arrested in Carson City drug sweep at apartment
Submitted by editor on Sun, 09/19/2010 - 3:57amA Carson City father was arrested early Saturday and faces multiple felony and gross misdemeanor charges after authorities found bags of suspected methamphetamine on the floor of his Fifth Street apartment as he was caring for his two small children.
Meanwhile four people, identified by the suspect as friends, face multiple drug charges.
Brett Steven Jones, 31, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine and prescription drugs for sale, two counts of gross misdemeanor child endangerment and a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge. Bail was set at $10,000.

Submitted by Kirk Caraway on Thu, 09/16/2010 - 11:48amCarson City Manager Larry Werner told the Board of Supervisors today that they are hoping to wrap up work on cost estimates for the city's portion of the Nugget Project by the end of the day.
Werner said that these cost estimates would determine if they had a feasible project or not, compared with the funding that would be provided by a 1/8 cent sales tax increase and tax increment financing.
He told the board that the results would be presented to the citizen's committee, whose next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 27.
Carson City man hawks sister's wedding ring, buys smokes
Submitted by editor on Fri, 09/10/2010 - 4:15amCarson City authorities arrested an unemployed man who admitted to stealing his sister's wedding ring, pawning it at a shop and then used some of the money to buy cigarettes.
Gregory Lee Snelson, 30, of Carson City, faces a felony grand larceny charge. He is being held on $25,000 bail.
According to the arrest report, officers met the sister of Snelson at the Carson City Sheriff's Office. The woman told authorities that her wedding ring was missing from her room on Monday and said she and her husband searched the home but couldn't find it.

Roseann Owens, 48, is being held on $10,000 bond at Carson City Jail. According to the arrest report, at about 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, the woman was seen leaning on the glass doors at the Carson City Sheriff's Office on Musser Street. The woman appeared to be distressed and an officer asked her what was wrong.

The DARE curriculum is developed by educators and taught by trained officers. It focuses on responsibility, resisting peer pressure, facts about drug abuse and techniques in making good decisions. It has components for elementary, middle, high school and after school programs.
Carson City deputies arrest Sacramento man after finding meth during traffic stop

Randall Velmar Berke, 54, was pulled over on a suspended registration early Wednesday morning at the corner of Carson Street and Fleischmann Way.
The arresting deputy learned from the suspect that he didn't have insurance and when his license was checked to see if he had warrants, the deputy learned it had been suspended.
