Carson Nugget Casino Hosts Live Entertainment in Outdoor Venue Beginning Saturday

The Carson Nugget in Carson City is kicking off a series of free outdoor concerts at the historic Laxalt Plaza adjacent to the Carson Nugget Casino beginning Saturday, Sept. 5, Labor Day Weekend. The first band in the series will be Mo’z Motley Blues Band who entertained during Taste of Downtown. They have a strong local following due to their versatility and infectious stage performance.

Nevada behavioral psychology internship consortium announced

The expansion of Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act has increased health care access to hundreds of thousands of Nevadans, creating even higher demand for health care professionals.
In anticipation of this increase, the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health facilitated a pipeline mapping project to identify challenges across multiple sectors, and to make recommendations for bringing more health professionals to Nevada.

A recent article in the Nevada Appeal titled: Swearing in, 2015 Carson City board kickoff Monday by John Barrette published on December 31, 2014. Here is an excerpt from that article.
“Mayor Robert Crowell said Tuesday he intends to suggest Abowd remain in her roles as mayor pro tem on the board, handling the gavel if he’s absent, and as chairperson of the authority. He also said in the past there hasn’t been controversy in divvying up board members’ committee work with members usually agreeing on what they want, but if any slots are contended they will be handled when that comes up.”

Kiwanis Club of Carson City, Supervisor Shirk volunteer for Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign

The Salvation Army is in the middle of their Red Kettle Fundraising season and is very thankful for the faithful volunteers of the Kiwanis Club of Carson City who have been standing a kettle for the Army for more years than either organization can remember.
The Kiwanis volunteers will be out at Smith’s at 599 E. Williams St. every Saturday leading up to Christmas this year. In 2013 they raised $1567.46 for the Army with their Bell Ringing.

Nevada gaming figures down in October, soar at Lake Tahoe
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 11/26/2014 - 8:55amCarson City area casino gaming profits for October fell less than a percent compared to figures for the same time last year. Statewide, gambling revenue decreased 4.26 percent in October, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Casinos at south shore Lake Tahoe at Stateline continue to show a rebound, despite the closing of the Horizon Casino in April, with it subsequently opening as the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in January 2015. Gaming revenue at South Shore was up 52.75 percent for the month over October 2013 figures.
