Chamber golf tournament raises money to send Carson culinary team to competition
Submitted by editor on Mon, 09/29/2014 - 9:08amThe Carson City Chamber held its fifth annual Chairman’s Golf Tournament at Silver Oak Golf on Friday to benefit Pro Start and Skills USA students at Carson High. Though the weather was cold, spirits were high and 39 golfers were able to raise $3,500 to send the culinary team to state competition.
The evening BBQ feast was prepared by a great group of kids that included BBQ ribs, sausages, chicken, mashed potatoes, salads, desserts, and more. Not your basic BBQ, by any means.

Terrie McNutt assumes Carson City Chamber helm
Submitted by editor on Tue, 07/08/2014 - 10:39amThe Carson City Chamber was incorporated in 1945 and has just recently installed the 65th Chairman of the Board. Terrie McNutt, General Manager of the Silver Oak Executive Conference Center and Silver Oak Golf, was installed as chairman at the Chamber Annual Meeting, June 27.
She succeeds Gil Yanuck who now serves as the Immediate Past Chairman. McNutt is the eighth woman to serve as chairman since 1945. The first chairman, then called President, was Ella Broderick elected in 1948.
July 4 holiday weekend activities lined up for Carson City and surrounding areas

The Nevada Rural Counties RVSP carnival runs through the weekend at Mills Park. Tonight RSVP will host a spectacular fireworks celebration over Carson City to go along with its 22nd annual holiday carnival.
Buyer emerges for Empire Ranch Golf Course

GSR Investments, a company connected with Richards, owner of Silver Oak Golf Course, has bought the deed of trust to the struggling 27-hole Empire Ranch Golf Course and has paid outstanding taxes owed to the city.

Millennium Bugs to Perform Sept. 7 at Silver Oak in Carson City

The musicians are Gil Linsley, trumpet; Dan Lancaster, sax, flute, clarinet; David Bugli, keyboard; Charles DiLaura, bass; and Neil Strocchio, drums. The group plays a variety of jazz styles for listening and dancing.

Hundreds of classic cars will be up for bidding, as well as associated memorabilia. The car auctions will be in the afternoon all three days starting at 1 p.m., with the memorabilia auctions starting each day at 11.

Celebrate History of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce

The event begins at 5:30 P.M. with a no host cocktail reception, followed by a barbeque. At 7 P.M., the program begins installation of the 2012 – 2013 Board.
The cost of entrance is $45 per person, and it includes a commemorative book.
The event will be located at 1251 Country Club Drive and an RSVP is required before July 18. RSVP by calling 775-882-1565.
Carson High School Class of '82 - 30 year reunion

July 13th will start off with a meet and greet at High Sierra Brewery beginning, at 6pm. On July 14th, golf has been set up at Silver Oak Golf Course with tee times beginning at 8:00 am. Dinner, with a live band will follow at that location beginning at 6:00 pm. On Sunday the 15th, family day at Round Hill Beach at Tahoe will complete the activities. Classic car auction underway at Silver Oak Golf Course

There are more than 500 cars up for auction, everything from classic antiques to 70s muscle cars. Out of that 500, 150 cars come from the collection of Carson City businessman Garth Richards.
The event kicked off yesterday, and they celebrated with a fireworks display last night.

That time ended many years ago with the construction of many privately owned golf courses in and around Carson City. For a while, it seemed a new course was being built every year. We were suddenly flush with great courses, and something new to market our area to visitors.
