All ages karaoke at the Fox Brewpub is a fun way to finish a Monday night.

Bring any unknown plants from your yard to Shoe Tree Brewing Company in Carson City on Monday, June 25 and have experts from the Carson City Weed Coalition and Open Space Department identify them while enjoying some tasty brews.

The event starts at 6 p.m. The coalition will tell you if your plants are noxious or not, and how to get rid of them if they are.

This is going to be an epic Fathers’ Day weekend. Carson City Off-Road sponsored by Epic Rides has taken over downtown with everything mountain bike and plays host to a free Music Festival in McFadden Plaza. Don’t miss Arts and Culture Day at the Nevada State Railroad Museum with unlimited rides on the Steam Train, special vendors, and more. CARSON CITY — A milestone is fast approaching for Shoe Tree Brewing Co., as it celebrates the first anniversary of the grand opening party at its location on Old Hot Springs Road.

A celebration is planned for June 16, 2018 starting at noon. There will be live bands, yard games, and a special release of Lapel DIPA in honor of the anniversary.

Sassabration, an annual celebration of diversity, is returning to Carson City July 14 in the parking lot of Carson Hot Springs Resort, 1500 Old Hot Springs Road.

Memorial Day weekend is often thought of as the kick-off to summer, but in Northern Nevada we know that the weather is a fickle creature. The weather should be dryer and warmer as the weekend progresses but have back-up plans for your bar-be-que, just in case. You may have noticed a few blue porch lights in your neighborhood; it’s a way to offer support for our local law enforcement officers. Today, those who have lost their lives in the line of duty will be honored at the Law Enforcement Memorial on the Nevada Capitol grounds with a ceremony, presentation of the colors, and taps.

Western Nevada College’s much anticipated True Grit art exhibit in the Bristlecone Gallery has the Carson City community engaged and excited. As part of the exhibit that will open Thursday, artists from around the state have been creating works from a canceled deck of playing cards from local casinos.

What better way to celebrate Earth Day and Earth Week than gorgeous weather that you just can’t help but enjoy. Join Muscle Powered and our Parks and Recreation Department at the Silver Saddle Ranch for a presentation and trash mob. Kids will love the Carnival at Bordewich Elementary School, and it helps raise funds for a local Cub Scout Pack. Mark Twain Elementary is hosting their annual Color Run at Mills Park, just make sure to wear a white shirt.

Carson City’s Big Read Event featuring “True Grit” will kick off May 3 with an exhibit at Western Nevada College displaying artwork made from canceled playing cards from area casinos.

Okay. This is one of the hardest weekend lists I’ve ever had to do. This dump of snow has cancelled some events, but others are in full force. Best I can tell, St. Patrick’s Day parties are not deterred by a little snowfall. There will be no parade in Virginia City, but the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fest is on. Head to downtown Carson for more green beer, Irish music, and corned beef and cabbage than you’ll know what to do with.

What a weekend. Now that Nevada Day is over, we can truly focus on Halloween. Take a trip to the hospital: Carson Tahoe is throwing its annual Spooktacular Stroll, complete with candy, prizes, a bounce house, and more. Head up to Virginia City if you’d like some thrills. The Mackay Mansion is open for its second annual haunted house, even though it’s got a reputation for being haunted year-round. Douglas kids will enjoy a Halloween party at the local Minden Library.

Finally, Nevada Day weekend is here. State offices are closed, the kids are off school, and Carson City is hoppin’. Join the Downtown Business Association for the ‘Passport to Downtown’ with live music, a raffle, craft and vendor show, and a family fun center, complete with petting zoo. Stick around for the annual fall Blinky Man Costumed Nighttime Bike Ride Pub Crawl with Lights. Halloween festivities, a carnival in Mills Park, and opening night of the La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow are on today’s list, as well.

It’s that time again. The Battle Born state celebrates its admission to the United States on the last Friday of October, with the annual Nevada Day parade on Saturday. New this year is a ‘Passport to Downtown’ event on Friday. Also new this year is the one-night-only curated art show, Capital Collage, on Friday night featuring over 20 diverse artists and organizations.

Tricks, treats, and fun for all ages is what Halloween is about. You’ll find numerous reasons to don a costume in this year’s list of everything Halloween. Parties for the adult crowd, haunted houses, and trick or treating are just the tip of the broomstick. Everything is listed chronologically by start time. A tribute to Nevada’s arts and entertainment will kick off this year’s Nevada Day festivities celebrating the same theme. Capital Collage 2017, featuring a variety of arts and artists from across the state, will be 7-11 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada, 1870 Russell Way.

There will be a fundraiser Tuesday, Sept. 17 at Shoe Tree Brewing Company for Iliana Avila, an 8 year old girl from Carson City with an inoperable brain tumor, (DIPG).

She is currently under care at UCSF, where she is undergoing radiation to slow down the progression of her tumor. All funds collected at the event will help relieve some of the financial stress as her family spends as much time as possible with her.

Carson City and Carson Valley are featured in a new food-themed road trip itinerary through northern Nevada developed by TravelNevada and Reno Bites, the food event taking place Oct. 9-15 in Reno.

Here are the 2017 Taste of Downtown Carson City “Best of” winners picked by ticketed participants of Saturday’s 24th annual event to benefit Advocates to End Domestic Violence.

The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is pleased to announce the date for HopeFest7, a free outdoor concert with headliner, Tyrone Wells. All proceeds from food, drink, and raffle tickets sales directly benefit local cancer patients undergoing lifesaving medical treatments, providing support for basic needs that go beyond the hospital walls.
