“Research shows that students who pass the AP Exam with a 3 or higher not only demonstrate that they are ready for freshman college classes, but that they are also more likely to graduate college in four years,” said Steve Canavero, Ph.D., Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Arts Council in Carson City hosts reception, artist talk with Donald Corpier Starr

An exhibit of Starr’s artwork is on display at the Arts Council’s OXS gallery through Nov. 9. The reception starts at 5:30 p.m. with the artist talk scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. at the Nevada Arts Council, 716 N. Carson St., Suite A, in Carson City.

A tradition that began decades ago at CHS has seniors jumping out of bed still wearing their pajamas, grabbing their blankets, and heading off to the CHS football field to arrive by 6 a.m.

It was the eulogy I wrote for and delivered at my father's funeral on June 30, 2012.
Reading through it for the first time in six years stirred up a lot of memories, some painful but mostly fond.

Luckily, plenty of options are available just about anywhere you are. Carson City has a car show and Brewfest hitting the downtown corridor, and to the south, Minden and Gardnerville are having their party of the year: Carson Valley Days. It’s World Doll Day at the Nevada State Museum with special displays, activities, and a special performance by the local Young Chautauquans.
