To celebrate the completion of the Genoa Main Street Enhancement Project, the Town of Genoa along with the Douglas County Redevelopment Agency is hosting a Ribbon Cutting Dedication Ceremony, and Celebration on July 27th at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be held on Nixon Street north of Jacks Valley Road, in Genoa Nevada and will be followed by festivities until 1 p.m. in the downtown area.

Today, at the Grand Opening of Ensignal, Inc., Verizon Wireless Premium Retailer, Mayor Bob Crowell enjoyed ribbon cutting with Verizon store manager, Stevie Ore, along with Carson City Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and guests. This new telecommunications store is located at the north end of the Carson Mall.

For the second year, the Carson City Chamber will be putting on their successful Home and Garden Show at the Carson Mall giving area and regional residents a chance to know local businesses and learn what’s new in home and gardening.

Twenty-five vendors are set to display their goods and services with Costco, Home Depot and Greenhouse Garden Center taking the center stage as they create vignettes to show what can be done to improve home and garden. The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be a ceremonial ribbon cutting and walking tour to officially recognize the Carson City Freeway landscaping project and the freeway's multi-use path. The public is invited to the April 19 ceremony.

The 3 p.m. ribbon cutting will be at the Northgate Lane Grade Separation, 3700 block of Northgate Lane, followed by a walking tour from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

The Carson City Library will launch a weeklong grand opening celebration of the new digital technology center, beginning Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Located on the second floor of the library annex, above the current Youth Department, the center has been introduced to computer-using patrons over the last several weeks and now the community is invited, according to a news release

Friends of the Library book lovers will now have a larger place to buy books and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce plans to launch the opening with a ribbon cutting.

Carson Tahoe Health and Walmart announce the opening of the newest location for basic health care services – “The Carson Tahoe Clinic at Walmart.” This convenient care clinic is now open to patients and will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, inside the Walmart located at 1511 Grant Avenue, off Highway 395.

One of the finest classes of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute graduated Thursday. Though a small class, they were mighty and bonded well. Over the course of 2012, they shared many wonderful experiences meeting community leaders and learning about our unique community. After more than a year in the making, the official opening of Bonanza Park in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday brought community members and families together in celebration of a cooperative public and private agreement made possible by city leaders and Edgewood Companies.

Northstar California did up things well Tuesday (name change, used to be "at-Tahoe") by officially opening its new multimillion dollar Zephyr lodge at the top of Zephyr lift and a new chairlift, the Promised Land Express. The new quad chair services two new trails. This completes a spending program of $30 million on upgrades, trails and support activities at the Lake Tahoe resort.

The Greenhouse Project’s focus on using renewable energy and ecological sustainable growing methods make it the only one of its kind in Nevada.

Mayor Bob Crowell was on hand Friday evening to help cut the ribbon for the Carson City Democrats' new headquarters on Each John Street.

At&t has expanded their store on Highway 50, doubling their size and offerings. Easy to find with their new signage, the store is laid out more efficiently and 5 new persons were hired to staff the popular store. A ribbon cutting was held to celebrate the expansion before the store opening on August 17th.

On Tuesday evening August 16th, Mayor Crowell and Supervisor Shelly Aldean assisted Artisan Cafe owner Danny Works as he cuts the ribbon for his new restaurant in the old City Cafe building located at 701 S. Carson Street. Holding the ribbon are his parents.

Home Treasures in the Carson Mall has expanded its location and offerings now including consignment furniture.

We all know the long saga of the Carson City Freeway. In planning for over 50 years, under construction for nearly 10, the freeway has become one of the big punch lines around town as one of those projects that it seems like we’ll never see the tail end of. They’ve been dribbling out freeway segments to us slowly, opening the stretch from Lakeview to Hwy 50 in Spring 2006 and the segment from Hwy 50 to Fairview in Fall 2009.
