The break in the stormy weather was a short one, with more precipitation later in the day Wednesday, forecasters say. Snow days, snow way. At least that's what the weather forecast calls for Tuesday. We'll see mostly cloudy skies before another chance of rain or snow arrives midweek and then a larger storm in time for the weekend. As the saying goes of Nevada weather: Wait a minute and it will change. It is also #GivingTuesday. If you have a favorite organization, it's a good time to send a few dollars their way. Around town there's art showings, a fitness walk, hike, dance classes and an old school film favorite at the Brewery Arts Center hosted by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the 31st season of the Nutcracker Ballet, a Feast with a Hero fundraiser at Slot World, Small Business Saturday throughout Carson City and Carson Valley, photos with Santa, a Telegraph Square sign dedication, Polar Express train rides at the V&T Railroad and more!

Heading into its 16th year of giving Carson City schoolchildren living without permanent homes a Christmas for themselves and their family, Holiday with a Hero is upon us and so is the need for the community's financial support.

With snow overnight into the morning, the eve of Thanksgiving will bustle with last minute food shopping and, for many, preparing for an extended holiday weekend. There's a few activities around Carson City on Wednesday, Nov. 27 including a "Get Fit with Fight Camp" at Yaple's Ballroom, art showings, classes and more.

With the season's first big winter storm expected to arrive later Tuesday evening into Thanksgiving, you can still get in activities around the capital city before the snow flies. There's a morning walk and evening hike with Muscle Powered, a job fair at the Carson Nugget, fitness and swing classes at Yaple's Ballroom, a Carson City School Board meeting and more.

The sixth annual Thanksgiving Day Carson City Turkey Trot is an event the entire family will enjoy and, for many families, it has become as much of a Thanksgiving Day tradition as the big meal itself.

A winter storm expected to bring feet of snow to the Sierra and anywhere from 1 to 6 inches to the valley floors during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period is headed our way, with snow expected to arrive late Tuesday afternoon and last through through Thanksgiving, according to the National Weather Service.

The first significant snow-driven storms of the season remain on track to impact western Nevada and Sierra midday Tuesday through Wednesday, coinciding with one of the busiest travel periods of the year. Motorists are advised that if they can do it, they should finish travel over the Sierra by Tuesday morning to avoid long delays and highway travel headaches.

A 24-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman was arrested Tuesday in the 1400 block of South Carson Street for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, a Carson City sheriff's arrest report states.

Partly sunny skies and cool temperatures are expected Thursday with a warmup in time for the weekend. Events ahead around the capital city include a meeting of the Board of Supervisors, a discussion on holiday stress and dementia offered by Carson Tahoe Expressions Memory Care, and an afternoon hike hosted by Muscle Powered. Also ahead, Carson City's GOP will host a discussion with several political leaders representing the capital city. With Western Nevada and Sierra finally seeing some rain and snow showers, weather forecasters say more may be on the way next week through the Thanksgiving holiday period.

CARSON CITY — With a light storm forecast this week and holiday travel next week, the Nevada Department of Transportation is encouraging drivers to sign up for e-mail and text alerts for their own frequently-traveled state routes.

A 63-year-old caretaker was arrested Monday for suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, preventing or dissuading a person to report a crime and battery, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report states.

A 52-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday night for domestic battery first after allegedly “taking down” her husband following an argument about an ex-partner.

According to the report, deputies were dispatched to a residence on report of a domestic battery, and dispatch advised the man had possibly been cut with a knife by the woman.

A 35-year-old Reno man was arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies on four felony warrants including sexual assault and invasion of privacy and is being held on a $250,000 bail.

According to the report, Jonathan Keith Graves was arrested after deputies received information that Graves had an outstanding felony warrant issued on Sept. 13, 2019 for sexual assault and intrusion of privacy with an electronic device. They learned that Graves would be driving from Douglas County to Washoe County between the hours of 5 and 6 p.m.

A 27-year-old man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of indecent exposure in an incident that allegedly happened in front of children and customers at an East William Street store, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

While much of the nation is stuck in an arctic freeze, we're stranded with abundant sunshine in Nevada's capital city area with temperatures well above normal for this time of year. A 28-year-old male transient was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of felony failure to register as a sex offender, a felony contempt of court warrant out of Washoe County and a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant out of Sparks Township Court, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report states.

A 28-year-old Carson City woman was arrested for suspicion of burglary after allegedly hiding in a sports bar restroom after it had closed and then attempting to take items and leave but couldn't get through the locked door, a sheriff's deputy report states.
