Shooting-related wildfires prompt temporary restriction on Carson Ranger District

This restriction will go into effect on Friday, June 30, and remain in effect until Saturday, Sept. 30 or until conditions change, the U.S. Forest Service announced Thursday.
Snow and stream flows remain over many Desolation Wilderness trails above Lake Tahoe

Trains in the Westerns at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park

Jim Clark, known to many as “The Train Man”, will cover some of the 250 films he has worked on. Clark is an engineer and train coordinator who is associated with several of the biggest films with trains and their Hollywood stars. Some of those films include "The Lone Ranger", "Wild, Wild, West" and "Into the West".

Carson City investigators seek identity of woman who used stolen credit card

On Jan. 16 an unknown woman was captured on video using a stolen credit card. The credit card was stolen during a vehicle burglary on the same day.

Bridgeport Winter Recreation Area now open for snowmobiling
Submitted by editor on Sun, 12/25/2016 - 7:52amThe Bridgeport Winter Recreation Area on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest's Bridgeport Ranger District is now open for snowmobiling as of Dec. 23. Currently, the snow depth is approximately 24 inches deep throughout most of the BWRA, which meets the minimum requirement of 24 inches that is needed to open the area.
Delay: Pile burning project in Little Valley called off due to weather conditions

Fire restrictions in Western Nevada to be lifted Friday; Carson City restrictions to remain in place
