Eat pizza and support Carson High School bands! Pizza Factory in Carson City will donate 20 percent of all sales to the CHS bands on Tuesday, August 17. There is no need to show a flyer, mention the band, or order at a specific time. Pizza Factory is open from 11 am to 9 pm Tuesday and is located on Highway 50 at Airport Road.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City is facing a possible closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a shortfall of funding. The Museum is now open and ready to serve all the families from this lovely region, and there are numerous ways the community can help.

Senator Square: Carson High School senior to raise support for Nevada Humane Society

Hello to everyone in Carson City. My name is Destiny Hernandez, and I am a senior at Carson High School. Just like all of the other seniors here at the school, I am working on my Senior Project, a graduation requirement, in order to benefit not only myself but also those animals in the community who need a home.

Carson City Mint 150th anniversary, fitness events, classic film showing and more Tuesday

Heading into Tuesday, the capital city will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Carson City Mint with events throughout the day. Other activities include a morning and evening walk hosted by Muscle Powered, a dinner fundraiser for the Roman family at Pizza Factory, a community dinner and meeting invite to the Order of Eastern Star, a showing at the BAC of the 1941 film classic "The Lady Eve" and a concert featuring the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus with violin soloist Elizabeth Pitcairn at Shepherd-Sierra Lutheran Church. Senator Square: Carson High School's NJROTC Orienteers compete; music, art students thrive

The CHS, NJROTC Orienteers competed in a weekend long orienteering festival in Anza Borrego State Park, Calif., Jan. 17-18. During the festival, team members competed in three different races over the two days.

Carson City Pizza Factory to host fundraiser for Roman family

Jake Sullivan Roman, 20, of Carson City, Nev., died tragically on Jan. 18, 2020 as a result of injuries sustained in a snowmobiling accident. He was born on Jan. 20, 1999 in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., the son of Blair and Susan Roman. He was a 2017 graduate of Carson High School and was currently a junior at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Pizza Factory on Highway 50 in Carson City will hold a Feb. 4 fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with 20 percent of sales being donated to the Roman family to help with finances during this extreme loss.

There will be a fundraiser for Carson City area locals on Jan. 21 at Pizza Factory. Gabe and Megan Torres need our help. Gabe has recently fallen ill with fungal pneumonia. His transplant medications make it difficult for him to fight everyday viruses let alone a relentless fungal infection. This is a fight they can win but it will be a long battle.

Carson City Classic Cinema Club rallies for kids by bringing 'Golden Age' films to community

For the past five years the Carson City Classic Cinema Club has been showing the great 'Golden Age of Hollywood' films to local moviegoers as a way to promote art education in the community. The club's founder notes its acceptance thus far has been slow going but, so far, successful.

Tiffani Barber was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer on Dec. 8, 2012. For those who did not know Tiffani, all she ever wanted to do was help people. She carried water and snacks in her car to give to the homeless and people less fortunate than her.

Senator Square: Time for the Happiest Carson High School Homecoming on Earth

Friday Sept. 13, no bad luck on this day, beginning at 1:18 p.m. was an assembly in the Big Gym during the last class of the day as an introduction to CHS’ Happiest Homecoming on Earth. Leadership students led the assembly with the first activity being the introduction of the Homecoming King and Queen candidates who made their grand entrance onto the floor.

Carson High School students not only experienced exciting college, job, and career opportunities outside of school this past week, they were also presented with an explosion of options directly.

Chamber Orchestra Students returned from their successful regional music festival in San Francisco, several CHS students enjoyed job shadowing with Nevada Legislators, and May 21 offered students access to its job and career fair throughout the day.

My loving sister, Susie Bongers, who moved to Carson City from Vietnam in February of 1973, attended Carson City schools until graduating from Carson High School in 1986, works with her mother and sister at MJ Beauty Salon, has been diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, the mother of all brain cancers.
