Debbie was the 2019 Artown poster artist and has been featured on PBS “ArtEffects” and several other media publications. Weather wise we're looking at some valley snow showers into the afternoon and evening. Activities include a spirited discussion by local historian CW Bayer about the origins of Reno's tawdry reputation, plus Carson Cigar Company will hold its annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Party. Events include the KTVN Share Your Christmas Food Drive at the Governor's Mansion in Carson City and at Minden's Carson Valley Inn, Homestead Holidays at the Silver Saddle Ranch and more. The Polar Express Train Rides are sold out for the rest of the year, but Santa Train express rides are steaming up at the Nevada State Railroad Museum over the weekend. Read on for details.
Cancer Recovery: Friends of Willow Bill host fundraiser Sunday at Carson City's A to Zen
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 12/05/2019 - 12:15pmObservant travelers in Northern Nevada are reporting numerous reindeer sightings along the 85 mile stretch of US 395 between Bordertown, on the north, and Lake Topaz, on the south.
The Willow Reindeer herd now has 3,000 individually crafted works of art. Each reindeer has been signed by the local elementary students that have created it over the past 22 years. With an average of 20 students per class, there have been over 60,000 local children involved in the massive local art project.

These individuals have a severe and profound physical and neurological disability, cannot care for themselves, need full-time assistance, and are some of the kindest human beings in the world, many of whom are students in the Carson City School District and at CHS. Each year, students in the CHS Comprehensive Life Skills program make crafts to sell at the annual CHS Craft Fair and give as gifts.

This course will teach you to make some amazing holiday creations out of books, including trees and ornaments. You'll even learn how to light up your creations! In addition to the $25 registration fee, a $40 supply fee is due to the instructor at the start of the course.

Parks Foundation holds Open House Sunday at the Wungnema House in Mills Park

The Wungnema House is located on the east side of Mills Park across from Carson High School. It was built by a family of skilled Hopi stonemasons shortly after World War II and served as the family’s home until the early 1970s.

PSA for the West Side of Carson City and Recent Thefts

We have filed a police report, but we are asking the wonderful citizens that live in our great town to be aware of this. If you have been a victim please call the Sheriffs Department to file a report.
Carson City weather: High Wind Warning issued ahead of storm, Red Flag Warning canceled

A High Wind Warning remains in effect until 4 a.m. Thursday. A Flood Watch was issued Wednesday afternoon for the Carson City region, western Nevada and Lake Tahoe.

With valley gusts expected to top 70 mph today, the National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning and Red Flag Warning for the Sierra Front including Reno, Carson City, Carson Valley and Lyon County.
