A government surplus auction will be held Saturday, April 14 at 601 Britain Drive in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center beginning at 9 a.m. Take Interstate 80 East from Sparks to Exit 32. This auction is open to the public.
Items can be previewed in person April 12-13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There isn’t really anything to be wary of today, so head out with abandon. Band students from all the Carson City schools, elementary on up, will get together this evening for a grand performance. Band-o-Rama will take place in the ‘big’ gymnasium at Carson High; get there early if you want a good seat. Learn more about the Court Appointed Special Advocates at their informational meeting; more volunteers are always appreciated.

Forest Service continues effort to eliminate invasive plant populations from Lake Tahoe Basin

Work will take place at approximately 90 infestations sites (18.25 acres) beginning in mid-July and continuing through September 2017.

Normally, the Pantry is open Monday through Friday from 10am until 4pm. However, the Pantry will close at noon on Friday December 16th, and at noon on Monday, December 19th. The Pantry will also be closed on Tuesday, December 27th from noon to 2:30pm for a delivery.

Volunteers in Policing, Lyon County Sheriff's Department, Smith's Grocery Store, donors, and community volunteers contributed to the event that resulted in the collection of $480 in cash plus over $700 worth of food items for the Dayton Food Pantry in just 4 hours on July 9th, 2016 at Smith's Grocery.
Sink hole on Jacks Valley Road forces closure, boil water order
Submitted by editor on Mon, 07/25/2016 - 12:37pmUPDATE 3:30PM From Douglas County Public Works: The water line has been located, but it is 15 foot deep with a gas line in the excavation hole and unmarked fiber optic lines running parallel to the edge of pavement along the old road bed. Therefore efforts are currently limited to the use of a vactor truck for excavation. It is anticipated that the crews will be working into the night to make the leak repair.
Jacks Valley Road will remain closed until the repair is complete.

A broken water line opened a six foot sink hole on Jacks Valley Road north of Genoa on Saturday. The hole is located between Montaña and the first entrance to Genoa Lakes Golf Course forcing a road closure, according to Douglas County Public Works officials.
