A man suffered third degree burns following a fire Sunday at a Gardnerville apartment that is believed to have started from an illicit butane hash oil extraction process, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

For the third year running Downtown Coin and Chef Don Pepe are combining to sell Oil and Vinegar and all profit goes to Pets of the Homeless. This organization provides care for animals owned by homeless folks. Downtown Coin at 111 W. Telegraph St. in Carson City is open 9-4 Tuesday thru Saturday. The oils are $16 and the balsamic vinegar is $22.

Kenny began oil painting classes at the Brewery Arts Center in January 2013, with previous endeavors as a self-taught artist using pencil drawings. Kenny has also creates in watercolor and pastels. Students will develop painting techniques and skills in this open studio class. Work on your own paintings from subject mater you chose for yourself as you take your art to the next level. Create artwork based on realism, abstraction, landscape, portraiture, or whatever style you prefer. Learn artistic technique, such as composition, color, paint application, texture, and expression. The instructor will provide one on one instruction throughout the class. 

Students may use oil, acrylic, or watercolor paint. Dry media is also welcome.

The Nevada Artists Association is presenting it's 67th annual Nevada Day Art exhibit which opened Oct. 22. This exhibit was open to all northern Nevada and California artists, and being a judged show, it always brings out the latest and best of the regions artists.

Local artists Deborah Stevenson and Deborah Foster collaborate to bring a vibrant new exhibit, The Power of Light, to the Nevada Artists Association Gallery (NAA) Sept. 10 – Oct. 20, 2017. Carson City weekend arrests: Woman jailed for suspicion of felony domestic battery

A 28-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday in the 200 block of Fleischmann Way for felony suspicion of third offense domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Carson City deputies make drug, domestic battery and warrant arrests

A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday in the area of Russell Way and William Street for felony suspicion of concentrated cannabis oil and other charges, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team deputy said.

First West Nile Case Reported in Carson City-Douglas County Area for 2017

Carson City Health and Human Services and Douglas County Mosquito Abatement are reporting the first human case of West Nile virus in the Carson City, Douglas County area for 2017. The individual confirmed to have West Nile Virus had the more serious form of the illness, which can impact the brain and surrounding tissues.

Human West Nile virus case reported in Lyon County

UPDATE WEDNESDAY: Lyon County has had three (3) confirmed cases of WNV. Two (2) of them were confirmed via pre-screening of donated blood. One (1) case was confirmed to have the less severe form of the illness.
The three (3) cases were located in Fernley and Yerington.
