Even though forecasters say we may have showers this weekend, the cool spring rain won't dampen the fun. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

Winter, though, continues its stubborn hold on the region, so bundle up this weekend in spite the extra hour of daylight. There's a chance of snow showers throughout the weekend with daytime highs only into the low 40s.

Some of the events included the Netflix show, "Stranger Things," a Twins Day, "Riverdale," "The Office," and even the ever popular once-a-month Dress for Success competition.
Future War lecture at observatory Saturday is CANCELED
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 02/08/2019 - 1:33pmSaturday's "Future War" lecture by Mike Thomas has been cancelled due to expected bad weather. SInce the national weather service recommends avoiding travel Saturday night, we thought this best.
I will be in Saturday night for a few hours to do some telescope maintenance, but the weather will prevent any star party viewing. We recommend that people avoid travel in the snow.
