Game wardens from the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) and other boating safety experts are reminding boaters about life jackets, safe boating classes and the danger of invasive species during National Safe Boating Week May 21-27, leading into Memorial Day weekend—the traditional kickoff to boating season in Northern Nevada.
Open House to address trails, roads, air travel and transit issues

Sand Harbor boat launch to open on March 3

The boat launch facility at Sand Harbor, Lake Tahoe will open March 3.
Boating hours will be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday through Monday, through the end of April.
Boat inspectors will be present during these hours with the Lake Tahoe Watercraft Inspection Program.
Carson City Greenhouse Project breaks ground

And now those hopes will soon come to be as The Greenhouse Project, a community-based greenhouse and garden, takes root in Carson City.
A ground-breaking ceremony held on Friday marks the beginning of a project that many believe will be a model for Carson City, the state of Nevada and the nation. Construction will begin next week.
Nevada State Parks offers backyard bird feeder class at Washoe Lake

A class on how to make a bird feeder out of recycled plastic will be offered by Nevada State Parks at Washoe Lake on July 10 beginning at 10 a.m.
Park staff will teach anyone how to decorate bird feeders out of recycled plastic bottles. The program is suitable for ages 5 to adult and all materials will be provided.
In honor of Nevada State Parks 75th anniversary, all children will receive a 75th anniversary memorabilia prize.
Carson River Coalition ramps effort to fight aquatic invasive species threat

Officials to cut ribbon on first-ever Carson River whitewater rafting, kayaking facilities
