Traffic Enforcement stop near Carson City for stolen vehicle results in 3 arrests

Last evening at approximately 9:48 pm, a law enforcement officer assigned to Department of Public Safety-Investigation Division observed a moving violation by the driver of a silver Chevrolet 4-door sedan on US 395 in Pleasant Valley. The officer was not wearing a uniform and was driving an unmarked police vehicle. He requested assistance from a trooper and provided our DPS-Communications Center with the information which included the Nevada license plate displayed on the sedan. The dispatcher informed him that the vehicle was recently reported stolen. There were four occupants riding in the vehicle. The officer and several other troopers initiated a felony traffic stop on US 395 just south of Lakeview Hill on the north side of Carson City. All four occupants were ordered out of the vehicle, placed into handcuffs and detained.

Deep cuts to state budget would hurt agencies and services

Dozens of Nevada’s nonprofit groups, service providers and others met this week in Reno and Las Vegas to consider the looming threat of deep cuts to the state budget cuts which threaten to eliminate or dramatically reduce health care, education, and human services.

Service agency and nonprofit directors from Lyon and Storey counties attended the Monday meeting, hoping for insights on how to plan for the upcoming deep cuts to Nevada’s public education, health and social services that will hit the rural areas especially hard.

DMV pilot program that targets out-of-state plates coming soon to Northern Nevada

A pilot program designed to go after car owners who have lived in the Silver State for more than a month but have not secured Nevada license plates is coming to Northern Nevada soon, according to this story and video by KOLO TV Channel 8.

Amber alert issued; Carson City woman abducts children from father's home

An Amber alert has been issued this morning. Kimberly Brune abducted both of her children from their father's home in Carson City.

At the time of the abduction she was driving a white 2004 Toyota Rav 4 with Nevada license plate 653 PZF. The vehicle has numerous rear window stickers. The incident happened at 6:54 a.m.

Brune is 43 years old, 5'7, 140 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes.
The children, both boys, are described as age 7, 4'7, 47 pounds and and a 5-year-old, 4'2, 43 pounds.

Carson City deputies arrest man with felony robbery, credit card fraud warrants

A 23-year-old transient was arrested Saturday and faces several charges including warrants for felony robbery, fraudulent use of a credit card, and uttering a fictitious bill.

Christopher Hugh Trappe, was arrested at North Carson and William streets at about 11:25 p.m.
According to the arrest report, deputies working with the Tri-County Gang Unit were dispatched to look for a four-door sedan with unknown Nevada license plates occupied by two men with shaved heads who left the area of Russell Way and Long street, displaying a "red rag" which is used to provoke gang activity.
