Gov. Sisolak proclaims October Arts and Humanities Month in Nevada

Recognizing the cultural and economic impact the arts community makes in the Silver State, Gov. Steve Sisolak has proclaimed October to be Arts and Humanities Month in Nevada.

Arts and humanities strengthen the Nevada economy by generating $8.7 billion in total economic activity annually and by supporting more than 40,900 Nevada workers, according to data from the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency that works to make the arts accessible to all Nevadans. Online Exhibition, Resiliency: A Blooming Diaspora, Opens October 1 at Nevada Humanities

The Capital City Arts Initiative presents an exhibition, "Faces and Places" by nine northern Nevada artists in the Community Center’s Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City. The exhibition runs through February 27, 2020. Nine students from the University of Nevada Reno’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program have work in the exhibit. The free exhibition is available to the public from Sept. 16 to Dec. 10, 2019, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
