Good morning Carson City and happy November! It’s going to be a beautiful day with a high of 65 and a chilly low of 33. We’ve got a ton of wonderful events this morning in the capital city, so let’s get into it!

Saturday, November 2

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the second annual Evening with Divas in Carson City, a Día de Muertos celebration at the Nevada State Museum, Nevada Artists Association’s 40th anniversary celebration, paranormal ghost investigations in Virginia City, a pie baking contest in Gardnerville and much more!

Heading into the last day of October and you know what that means: Happy Halloween! Best to bundle up under the costumes as Thursday will be another chilly day, though warmer than Wednesday. Activities around the capital city include a Muscle Powered afternoon hike, art showings, library activities and more. Read on for Halloween activities around the capital city.

Going into the eve of Halloween, teeth will be chattering as the weather calls for sunny skies but with a chill in the air and daytime temperatures in the upper 40s around the capital city. Events around town Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019 include a Halloween costume walk at Riverview Park in Carson City, a "trick or trunk" event in Dayton, art showings, storytelling at the Carson City Library and more.

Heading into Tuesday, expect continued sunny skies and cool temperatures. Events for the day include a morning walk and evening hike with Muscle Powered, Fall job fairs hosted by Nevada JobConnect and the Carson Nugget, the 3rd annual "BOO-nanza" celebration at the Carson City Community Center and library, a Relay for Life fundraiser at Firehouse Subs and more.

Counting down the hours until the Nevada Day weekend celebration begins, we're heading into Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 with sunny skies in the forecast through Sunday. Thursday opens the first of the four-day annual RSVP Nevada Day Carnival at Mills Park with $1 ride family night hosted by Carson City Toyota. Other activities around the capital city include a Muscle Powered afternoon hike, art showings, library activities, a gold and silver rush presentation at the Nevada State Museum and more.

We're days away from our celebration of statehood and the weather around the capital city couldn't be more, well, Nevada-like with daytime highs near 70 and sunny skies. Carson City area activities ahead for Wednesday, Oct. 23 feature an economic roundup presented by the Northern Nevada Development Authority at Casino Fandango, Carson Tahoe's annual "Spooktacular" family event, Firehouse Subs will host our local Search and Rescue for a dinner fundraiser; Sierra Nevada Journeys and Nature Conservancy will present family STEM night in Genoa, plus art showings and more. Going into Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019 more sunny skies and warm fall temperatures will continue to shine on the capital city as we prepare for the Nevada Day weekend. Ahead Tuesday include a morning walk and evening hike with Muscle Powered, a "haunted" cemetery tour at Lone Mountain, a business networking meeting at Casino Fandango and the Fat Tuesday business networking group at Carson Nugget, archery at Centennial Park and more. Call for Artists for the Carson Valley Art Association upcoming Annual Scholarship Art Show, Nevada Day weekend, October 25-27 at the CVIC Hall, 1502 Esmeralda Ave., Minden.

Artists from Nevada, adjoining California counties and high school students are encouraged to participate.

Nevada Artists Association members have contributed to our community over the years. Perhaps the most entertaining story that has come from these moments in time is a snapshot of when one of their artists repaired a painting of Lincoln that had three bullet holes in it.

Going into the final stretch of the work week Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 will bring cool conditions, a slight chance of rain and some sunshine. Activities around the capital city include a meeting of the Board of Supervisors, a Muscle Powered hike at Silver Saddle Ranch, a rally at the legislative building, modern western square dancing lessons, art showings, library activities and more. It's that spooky time again, when the leaves begin to fall, Nevada Day is gearing up to bring us the best parade in the state, and our little ghouls and goblins are putting together their terrifying and adorable costumes in preparation for sugary chaos.

While haze from nearby Sierra fires may linger some, we're looking at another pleasant fall day around the capital city heading into Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019. Events locally include a ribbon cutting and outdoor moving showing at the new Schulz Ranch Park, workshops, a women's safety meeting, a pumpkin patch for kids at Carson Mall, plus art showings and public talks. After hours it will be toasts, cheers and business networking all around at the Dayton Taphouse. Enjoy the day.

Heading into Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, it will be a busy day ahead around the capital city including a Carson City Chamber of Commerce luncheon with Nevada's chief economist, a GOP Women's Club luncheon with Nevada State Senator James Settelmeyer, Sierra Lutheran will host its 7th and 8th Grade Visitation Day, plus a morning walk, evening hike with Muscle Powered, archery at Centennial Park, art night at the library and more. Heading into Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019 and we're looking at continued sunshine and cool temperatures, with some warming in time for the weekend. Activities ahead around the capital city feature a workshop by Carson City TRIAD to prepare residents for Medicare open enrollment, a Muscle Powered led afternoon hike at Sedge Road, the grand opening of My Place Hotel, modern western square dancing lessons, art showings, library activities and more. Breezy and cool conditions are on the way as we look ahead to Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019. Events lined around the capital city area include art workshops and showings, a "scary makeup" class in time for Halloween at the Carson Nugget, a luncheon with Congressman Mark Amodei hosted by the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, family story time at the Carson City Library, a women's safety meeting, Salsa dancing and more. Going into the second week of October, there's plenty of events around the capital city for this Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019 including a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered. There's also art showings, the grand opening of Carson City's Postal Annex, family movie night at the Carson City Library featuring "Muppets from Space," as well as Big Band jazz music with a fall theme at Living the Good Life and more. Nothing compares to the Nevada Day Show at the NAA Art Gallery where we generally receive well over 100 entries. This show features work that reflects the spirit of Nevada and beyond.

Many of our shows are specific to our members, however, this one is open to artists from the community at large. If you are interested in showing your artwork and/or photography at this judged show please plan to bring your work to the gallery on Saturday, October 19th, anytime from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Forty years ago, Carson City’s art and culture community experienced a massive boost when the Nevada Artists Association Art Gallery opened its doors.

The funding and building of this volunteer run gallery was spearheaded by local Nevada artists and donated to Carson City as part of the Brewery Arts Center Campus in 1979. Today NAA enjoys a membership of over 150 member artists, many of whom volunteer to host at and run Nevada Artists Association Art Gallery that has continually contributed to the arts and culture of the Carson City community throughout the past 40 years.

Sunny skies ahead as we edge closer to the weekend with activities lined up for Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019 around Carson City including modern western square dancing lessons, an afternoon hike led by Muscle Powered along the Virginia and Truckee north trail, art showings, library activities and more. Heading into Wednesday, Oct. 2 events lined up include Coffee with a Cop at Comma Coffee, Walk and Bike to School Day, a public meeting to discuss stormwater rates, art workshops and showings, a Bee City USA meeting at Greenhouse Garden Center, the first gathering of Women Seeking Safety classes at the Salvation Army, family story time at the library, presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren at the Carson City MAC, Salsa dancing and more.

Heading into the first day of October 2019, events around the capital city include a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered, a historic talk about Frank Sinatra's gaming license at Lake Tahoe, a "Think Pink" breast cancer awareness event at Red's Old 395 Grill, a showing of the film classic "Charade" at the Brewery Arts Center and more.

Heading into Thursday and the final stretch of the work week, it is shaping up to be eventful around the capital city area featuring a morning hike along Clear Creek hosted by Muscle Powered, activities at the Carson City Library, western square dancing offered through Carson City Parks and Recreation, Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park, Ladies' Night Out at Gather, a volunteer information hour and training hosted by Carson City's CASA, a lecture entitled "100 Years Later: The 1919 Transcontinental Military Motor Convoy" featured at the Nevada State Museum, and more.

Jamming into the midweek, events lined up for Wednesday, Sept. 25 around the capital city include a Carson City Chamber's Soup's On luncheon with a primer on blockchain. The Northern Nevada Development Authority will host its monthly Business Edge meeting at Casino Fandango with a focus on Nevada's energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives. Also happening: Fusion cooking classes at Healthy Communities Coalition’s Dayton headquarters, plus the Veterans Resource Group will make a visit to the Dayton Food Pantry. There's also a Wine and Moondance Chocolate Pairing at Expresso Yourself inside the Brewery Arts Center, plus art workshops and showings, Salsa dancing and more.

As we make our way to Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, events around the capital city include a job fair at the Carson Nugget, a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered, a Relay for Life fundraiser at Firehouse Subs, a Fat Tuesday business networking event, Culinary Traveler’s Club at Bleu Cafe and more.

Activities in the pipeline include a Muscle Powered bike ride, Dayton Valley Days street festival and pet parade, the final Chautauqua of the 2019 Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park festival season, Carson City Chapter of Raider Nation's Game Watch at Jimmy Gs, a history walk at Genoa's Mormon Station State Historic Park, A V&T train ride and more. Coming up on the final stretch of the work week, Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 is shaping up to be eventful around the capital city area, including a morning Tahoe Rim Trail hike hosted by Muscle Powered, a meeting of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, a Status of Women in Nevada meeting at the Carson Nugget, activities at the library including the first in a series of Job Seeking With Google workshops, plus the first of the three-day Rockabilly Riot car show at Mills Park and more. UPDATE: Due to weather concerns, the Pirate Pup Parade will be moved indoors outside of the Black Box Theater at the Brewery Arts Center. The film showing of "Hook" will be held in the BAC Performance Hall. Food Trucks will be outside in the parking lot.

Heading into Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, events around the capital city region include a morning hike at Lake Tahoe, a Healthy Communities meeting in Virginia City, a cross-country convoy of vintage military vehicles that will make a stopover at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, activities at the Carson City Library, book author presentations at the Nevada State Library and Archives and the Brewery Arts Center, food trucks at Mills Park and more.
