Snowshoeing Your Local Trails
Submitted by BikeCarson.com on Thu, 01/03/2013 - 12:27pmIt’s turning out to be one of those winters that isn’t very mountain bike friendly. Freezing temperatures are keeping the roads icy in town, and there is bicycle-stopping deep snow in the nearby mountains. Thankfully there is another way to enjoy our local trails if you’re willing to let go of the handlebars and grab some poles.
New Bike Rack at Curry and Proctor Streets
Submitted by BikeCarson.com on Mon, 08/27/2012 - 11:13amWith the great restaurants, brewery, and almost nightly entertainment downtown, bicycle parking is in high demand along Curry Street in Carson City. It’s not uncommon to see bikes locked to lamp posts, trash cans, and anything else solid people can find. To help alleviate the bike parking problem, Muscle Powered has installed a bike rack at Curry and Proctor Streets.

Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 08/05/2012 - 3:47pmWhat: Trash Mob
When: Saturday August 11th 8 a.m.
Where: Foothill Dr. at Winnie Lane
Why: This is the second in our series of quick trash pick up events. This area attracts a lot of walkers and bicyclists, and dogs. For all of you who walk or bike this area please come out for just 1 hour and help us clean up. If you have a pooper scooper please bring it.
We’re asking for only 1 hour of your time, not a lot, but it can make such a difference.
Carson City Parks and Recreation has promised to put up a Mutt Mitt station, so if we can get it cleaned up maybe it’ll stay cleaned up.

Roop Street Reopening
Submitted by on Sun, 12/05/2010 - 10:59amLooks like there’s finally an opening date set for Roop Street. They’ve been rebuilding the stretch of Roop between Washington Street and the Lone Mountain Cemetery ever since the early summer. This has caused big headaches for traffic around town, since that is one of the major north-south routes through that part of town. Although, they wisely waited until the Stewart Street extension was done, so at least there was an easy detour to get around all the construction. But it will still be good to get all the cones and detour signs down and be able to sail through.
