Healthy Communities Coalition announces its new initative to host representatives from different veterans resource groups once a month at each of its volunteer-powered food pantries in Lyon County. TMCC Veterans Upward Bound shared information at the Yerington Food Pantry on September 18th. They will be on hand at the Dayton Food Pantry to share information on Wednesday, September 25 from noon to 4pm. They will also be at the Silver Stage Food Pantry to share information on Wednesday October 2 from 1pm-4pm.

Carson City Airport Open House raises money for Eagle Valley Children's Home

At the monthly Carson City Airport Authority meeting of the board, the Authority presented Donna Clarke, executive director of the Eagle Valley Children's Home, a check in the amount of $3,963.61 to establish an endowment in the name of the Carson City Airport Authority to support the mission of the children's home.

Nevada jobs report shows growth in August, unemployment unchanged

CARSON CITY — Statewide employment figures in August show Nevada is up 5,400 jobs over the month and 42,100 over the year, with the state's unemployment rate at 4.1 percent, unchanged from June and down 0.4 percentage point when compared to last August, according to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s monthly report released Wednesday.

Southwest Gas proposes $2.27 a month rate hike for Northern Nevada customers

Southwest Gas has proposed a rate hike amounting to an average increase of $2.27 per month for Northern Nevada residential customers. A consumer session will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27, to hear public comment regarding the annual rate adjustment application by the utility.
