Carson City deputies arrest California women in credit card scheme
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 06/19/2013 - 9:57amTwo California women stopped by Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies on Tuesday have admitted to a scheme of using stolen credit cards to buy hundreds of dollars worth of gift cards.
Markeisha Yvette Orviss, 22, and Kamesha Joann Cooper, 24, of Pittsburg, Calif., were arrested by Carson City sheriff's patrol officers in the 3900 block of South Carson Street at 12:15 p.m.

Carson City man identified in fatal Highway 395 vehicle crash south of Gardnerville
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 01/09/2013 - 8:25amA 31-year-old Carson City man, Jaron W. Malone, has been identified as the victim in a two-vehicle crash Monday on Highway 395 at Riverview Drive south of Gardnerville in Douglas County, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
Carson City man dies in Highway 395 crash near Gardnerville
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 01/08/2013 - 10:25amAlcohol is suspected as a factor in a fatal crash Monday night on Highway 395 three miles south of Gardnerville in Douglas County that killed a 31-year-old Carson City man, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
The crash was reported at 10:05 p.m. The preliminary crash investigation details a blue 1995 Ford 4-door sedan, driven by the Carson City man, was pulling out from the driveway of the 7-Eleven store near Riverview Drive and Highway 395, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen.
Carson City authorities arrest suspects on weapons, fraud and battery charges
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 09/27/2012 - 12:18pmA 71-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail on Sept. 24 on a warrant stemming from two charges of assault with a deadly weapon. Francis John Belongia, was arrested in the 4000 block of Stampede Drive without incident. Bail was set at $20,000.
In other felony-related arrests:
— A Dayton woman faces a felony charge of fraudulent use of a credit card or debit card without consent. Cynthia Marie Shelley, 31, was arrested Sept. 26. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street. She was arrested following a felony warrant issued by the Carson City Justice Court. Bail was set at $7,500.

A great day was had by all – the weather cooperated – and people strolled among the beautiful vehicles and chatted with the owners and restorers. The CCSO 9th Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge attracted a dedicated crowd who watched all the competitors and cheered their favorites on to victory in all the competitions – Continuous Ride, Slow Ride, Team Ride, and the spectacular Last Man Standing.

Silver Springs woman identified as victim in fatal Highway 50 accident east of Dayton
Submitted by editor on Sat, 01/29/2011 - 9:57amA 52-year-old Lyon County woman who died at the scene of an accident on Highway 50 east of Dayton on Friday night has been identified by the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Carole Marie Ernst of Silver Springs died from injuries in the accident that remains under investigation. Two others remain in stable condition at Renown Medical Center in Reno, a NHP spokesman said.
Ernst was a passenger in the two-vehicle accident, which was reported at 10:51 p.m., about 7 miles east of Dayton, said NHP Trooper Dan Lopez. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident, he added.
The drivers of both vehicles were flown by air ambulance to Renown Medical Center in Reno. They are Cindy Ann Leon, 32, from Silver Springs who is listed in stable condition. The second driver, Jessica Lynn Sanchez, is also listed in stable condition.

NHP identifies Carson City man who died in Friday motorcycle accident
Submitted by editor on Sat, 09/18/2010 - 9:57amThe Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the driver of the motorcycle who died at the scene of a three vehicle accident in Carson CIty on Friday night.
James Kevin Montez, 37, of Carson City was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an NHP press statement. The condition of two people, flown by air ambulance to Renown Medical Center, is reportedly that they suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Stabbing victim transported to hospital
Submitted by admin on Sun, 06/20/2010 - 2:28pmA man with a stab wound to the back was taken to a Reno hospital via Careflight after being located by sheriff's deputies in Carson City.
According to initial reports from the scene, officers believe the stabbing took place in Gardnerville, and the victim was driven to Fuji Park where he was put into another vehicle, an older model red Mercury Mystique.
