Meet near the red barns on Silver Saddle Ranch on Carson River Road. Dirt trail. From Carson River Road turn into the dirt road by Silver Saddle Ranch sign. Follow the signs on the one way road to parking lot.

Carson City, NV – Forty Nevadans who were passengers on the Grand Princess cruise ship are being contacted by health authorities to assess their health and any symptoms that may be consistent with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The passengers disembarked from the ship on Feb. 21.

The case that was announced as a presumptive positive through the Washoe County Health District was a passenger on the ship which also included passengers from other states who have since tested positive for COVID-19.

The Lyon County Board of Commissioners proposed an ordinance to set a 5 cent per gallon tax on diesel fuel.

The Board heard public testimony both in support and opposition. The Board will conduct a second hearing currently scheduled for March 19, 2020.

UPDATE MONDAY: The Washoe County Health District (WCHD) conducted COVID-19 testing Friday and all tests came back negative including all students at Huffaker Elementary School who were tested. The negative result includes the family member (a Huffaker student) of the resident who tested presumptive positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

The Sierra Inline Hockey League will be hosting three free inline hockey clinics for active kids beginning Monday March 9, and the next two Mondays on the 16 and 23.

Session times run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., for ages 6 - 9 years old.

Reno Police are investigating a murder-suicide at the 10000 block of Canyon Country Court in South Reno. According to officers, they have located four people dead in the home on March 4th. They believe that they are all members of the same family who reside there.

Art in Motion presents it's Performance Groups taking the spotlight in Carson City this year for their annual Spotlight Dance Competition. This is a free public event. The Michael Furlong Band will rock the Fuji Park Exhibition Hall in Carson City at "A Face in the Crowd," a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute show this Saturday night, March 7. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the band will keep Tom Petty fans on the dance floor until the show wraps up at 10 p.m.

Carson City candidacy filing is underway and two additional candidates have thrown their hat into the ring for Board of Supervisors.

The two additional candidates are Lorne Houle for Ward 2, and Mike Smith for Ward 4, bring the total up to three for Board of Supervisors and eight total candidates in the elections.
