Bay Area manufacturer relocates to Dayton

The president and now 100 percent owner of Peterson Products, Peterson is in the process of moving his manufacturing firm from San Mateo, Calif. to Dayton.
Science and technology grant allows WNC to offer advanced manufacturing training

To that end, Western Nevada College has received a $150,000 Science and Technology grant to prepare residents for the new technical jobs.
California rubber company to move plastics division to Carson Valley
Submitted by editor on Thu, 10/29/2015 - 10:50amA rubber and plastic manufacturer will move its plastic division from California to Carson Valley in Douglas County and bring 40 jobs along with it, officials with Northern Nevada Development Authority announced Thursday.
VIP Rubber and Plastic has purchased a building near Johnson Lane and plans a Jan. 4, 2016 opening. The company's main manufacturing facility will remain in La Habra, Calif.
WNC student works toward degree through unique college, community partnership

Raised in Southern California primarily by his two grandfathers, one retired Navy and the other a pastor, Shoff moved to Carson City in 2000 to live with his uncle, and get back on the right track. Early brushes with the law for being, as he said, “young and dumb,” didn’t deter him from seeking a better life.

NNDA announces expansion of New Millennium steel facility in Fallon

New Millennium recently began a two phase expansion at its current facility and will hire up to 17 additional employees over the next six months.

CCAI Industrial Art at the Library

The show, previously at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery, will be available at the Library through November 19.
The Library will host a public reception for Industrial Art on Friday, October 2, 3:30-5pm in honor of Manufacturer's Month [October]. The Library’s MT1 training room and the Digitorium will also feature students’ manufacturing activities during the open house event.

Amodei: Arguments opposing Trade Promotion Authority no longer resemble reality
Submitted by editor on Thu, 06/18/2015 - 1:37pmCongressman Mark Amodei, NV-2, voted Thursday in favor of legislation known as Trade Promotion Authority, which would set parameters and restrictions on the negotiations of a free trade agreement known as the Trans Pacific Partnership and provide for an up or down vote on the resulting agreement. It passed the House 218 to 208.
The TPA bill has been available to the public online for more than a month. Amodei released the following statement:

Broad offerings for summer term at Western Nevada College

A wide range of subjects will be available to students on the Carson City campus, including computer science, advanced mathematics, geology, biology, sign language, music, accounting, auto collision and composition, and more.
Carson City's average weekly wage shows 1 percent growth in last quarter of 2014
Submitted by editor on Tue, 06/02/2015 - 3:44pmThe average weekly wage in Nevada rose to $899 during the fourth quarter of 2014, an increase of 1.6 percent relative to a year ago. In Carson City, wages gained 1 percent, from $861 in 2013 to $870 at the end of 2014.
Statewide, this is the highest quarter on record since 1996, said Bill Anderson, chief economist for Nevada’s Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.
