Happy Saturday Carson City, and say hello to February! That means Spring must be right around the corner! I hope so at least, because Friday’s beautiful weather was enough to make me ready to say goodbye to father winter.

We’ve got a jam packed list of events throughout the weekend, including February’s wine walk happening today!

Saturday, February 1

Heading into the Super Bowl weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the monthly downtown Carson City wine walk, plus karaoke at Bella Vita Bistro and Y-NOT Saloon. The Forest Service begins its first “Ski With a Ranger” at Lake Tahoe’s Heavenly Mountain Resort on Friday. Combined with championship football festivities on Sunday, the Silver State is in store for a wild, good time.

Heading into last day of 2019, we're looking at partly sunny skies with a high around 50 and low around 30. Activities around the capital city region are lined up through the day and evening. Enjoy and celebrate as we prepare to toast a welcome to 2020. Also do consider a designated driver, cab ride, Lyft or Uber to be on the safe side for your ride home if out celebrating. Happy New Year!

As we head into the final Monday of 2019, we're looking at a slight chance of light snow in the morning as a weak weather system brushes the region. Events around the Carson City area include a driver's education class offered through Western Nevada College Continuing Education, a luncheon featuring Patricia Ackerman, a Democratic primary candidate for Nevada's 2nd Congressional District, art activities and more.

Heading into the weekend, there's a bevy of events around the Carson City region that brings a cool breeze to the first three days of summer. The 16th Motor Officer Challenge kicks off Friday at 7 a.m. at Mills Park. Lace up the shoes for a Friday morning walk at East Silver Saddle Ranch hosted by Muscle Powered.

Come join us for a weekend of fun! Award winning journalist and comedian Maureen Langan will be headlining the Carson Comedy Club this Friday and Saturday, June 21-22 in Carson City.

Heading into Father’s Day weekend, there's plenty of jam-packed activities around the Carson City region. There's Flag Day ceremonies at the Nevada Veterans Memorial and at the Elks Lodge. The Stewart Father’s Day Powwow happens Friday to Sunday and features hundreds of American Indian dancers, drummers artists and cultural enthusiasts. Lace up the tennis shoes for the Eastside Historical tour of the capital city hosted by Muscle Powered. Journey of Hope returns to Western Nevada College at 5 p.m. to settle into the evening. Open Mic Night at A to Zen will cap-off an eventful Friday heading into the weekend.

We have comedian Travis Tate headlining the Carson Comedy Club Friday & Saturday. The doors open up at 7:15 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 each and available at the Winners Club inside the Carson Nugget or at www.ccnugget.com.

Following the show, we have Northern Nevada funk band, Soul Kiss, performing at The Loft inside the Carson Nugget. The party starts at 9 p.m.

Headed into Saturday, April 27, 2019 we're looking at another picture-perfect spring weather day and cool overnight temperatures. There's lots of activities ahead, including a colorful fun run at Mills Park, a free paper and document recycling event hosted by Debug Computer, a prescription drug roundup, the Silver State's own celebration of the Aloha State, a Carson High School speech team fundraiser at Flavors of India, art showings and sales and a fundraiser at Flat Earth Pizza for a wonderful Carson City woman who is in the throes of cancer. Join the Carson Comedy Club at the Carson Nugget for a fun-filled weekend April 26-27 in Carson City. Comedian Kirk McHenry will headline the comedy club Friday night and Saturday nights beginning at 8 p.m.

CARSON CITY — The Carson Nugget Casino Hotel celebrates its 65th anniversary with the grand opening of its new restaurant Angelina’s Bistro, a birthday cake and champagne toast, and the premiere of Casino Boss, episode 2 on Tuesday, March 12, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Carson Nugget, 507 N. Carson Street.

Tibetan monks from the Gaden Shartse Monastery will return to Carson City and South Lake Tahoe this month as part of their two-year tour of the United States.

During their Carson City visit, from Jan. 15-20, the monks will construct a Manjushri, also known as Buddha of Wisdom Sand Mandala.

Hundreds of Carsonites attended a cast call Tuesday hosted by the Carson Nugget, hoping to become extras in a new TV show "Casino Boss," that will begin filming its pilot this week.

CARSON CITY — A new sitcom called “Casino Boss” starring comedian, movie star and Saturday Night Live alum, Joe Piscopo, is filming in the Carson Nugget Casino, located at 507 N. Carson Street. Show producers are holding a casting call for extras to appear in the pilot at Alatte inside the Nugget Tuesday, August 7 from 4-7 p.m.

Joe Piscopo is Casino Boss. The Carson Nugget will be featured in the new TV sitcom, "Casino Boss."

This Friday (3/30) and Saturday (3/31) from 9PM - 1AM, The Loft presents Deception! Classic Rock at it’s best. 70’s, 80’s, 90’s 2000’s Big sound from a small band, Formed by key members of Bad Intent, Deception is a power trio that slays covers! Rick and Joe played together for years in Bad Intent and they added Oscar in the summer of 2012 to form Deception. They have played shows in most of northern Nevada so far!

Free Live Music this Friday (3/16) and Saturday (3/17), Big Heart will be performing at the loft from 9pm-1am! Big Heart for the Love of Music! Eclectic original songs created from the heart as well as covers of classic -southern and alternative rock - All Rock- all ways -any venue any way. Big Heart puts on a show you won’t forget electric or acoustic anywhere-anyway! Diverse as opener with all originals or as headliner with classic covers for a full four set show. We rock outdoor music festivals and we have stage and sound gear for weddings, private parties or parades.

There will be free live music this weekend at The Loft inside the Carson Nugget in Carson City. Soul Persuaders have been working together for most of their lives.

They brought with them decades of professional experience playing, recording and touring with many of the biggest names in R&B, Motown, Soul and Funk including the Contours, Carl Carlton, Marvelettes, Rick James, Temptations, Four Tops, Ray Charles, Shotgun, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Freida Payne, Leslie Gore, Miracles, Drifters, Gene Chandler, Flamingos, and many more!

The shows are Friday and Saturday, 9 p.m.

Tibetan monks, on a two-year tour of the United States from the Gaden Shartse Monastery in India, will be visiting Carson City and South Lake Tahoe to share their unique and deeply spiritual culture of Tibetan Buddhism.
