Judge rules for Brewery Arts Center in lease dispute against Foodies Bystro
Submitted by admin on Thu, 09/24/2015 - 10:57amThe Brewery Arts Center prevailed in Carson Justice Court Tuesday morning in the nonprofit’s quest to evict Foodies Bystro from its spot in the center’s facility at the corner of King and Division streets.
Judge Steven McMorris agreed with the BAC’s request to invalidate a portion of the lease that would have allowed Foodies to renew the lease for another three years. The judge found that the wording of the section was vague because it allowed for the lease to be renewed, but didn’t specify that the renewal would be under the same terms and conditions.

A summer like no other
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sat, 07/04/2015 - 2:48pmThe summer of 1776 must not have been much different from other summers gone and yet to come: Hot, muggy and miserable for those who had to work out in it. And in 1776 that included most people.
Like any other summer, that particular one 239 years ago was alive with fragrances in full bloom; the sounds of children playing in fields of wild flowers, and splashing about in creeks and ponds where it was cool; young animals frolicking in the fields; men and women toiling in their gardens and on their farms; and the happy songs of birds, crickets and frogs relishing in the summer solstice.

Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 06/03/2015 - 8:52amSunday, Assemblyman Erv Nelson and others broke their key election promises to fight huge destructive tax hikes and make state government operate reasonably. Nelson used glittering generalities and platitudes to explain that he didn’t really understand matters very well back when he made his promises, even though he’s an experienced lawyer. But now he understands and so has changed his mind.
If he thinks he now understands matters correctly, then he must logically also believe that folks who voted for him based on his promises don’t understand.
